Amy Winehouse is having a film made about her life. The first look at on screen Amy is upsetting fans, a lot.
Amy Winehouse Movie Not Sitting Well
The movie is currently filming and fans are sneaking pictures of actress Marisa Abela as Winehouse and they are not impressed. Twitter account @mediumsizemeech shared one of the fan photos and captioned it, “I need her arrested IMMEDIATELY.”
The photo showed Abela transformed into Amy with her signature beehive and ballet flats. The only problem is, she looks a mess, and not Amy messy but messy, messy. The look they recreated is a bit off and Abela seems to be struggling to transform into Amy.
Fans have a lot of opinions about it and are stressing those opinions on Twitter.
Amy Winehouse Fans Are Not Happy
Whatever is going on with the new movie is rubbing fans the wrong way and they have all kinds of questions. “This cannot be what my brain is telling me it is it simply cannot” revealed one fan.
“THIS is a crime against humanity. JAIL!” wrote another. Some followers had no idea who Abela is. “Who the hell is that?”
Many of the fans felt the look and movie in general was disrespectful. “I know they not playing in Amy face like this.” Another person had the same reaction, “I know this ain’t no attempt at Amy Winehouse?!😒”
“This is a crime. Absolutely won’t be watching,” insisted another. Clearly, the look is triggering fans of the “Back to Black” singer. Many were upset that even in death Winehouse can’t have peace. “Hollywood tormented Amy in life and in death. So gross!”
Amy Winehouse Movie Has No Date Yet
The movie will be called Back To Black the title of Winehouse’s most popular album and the name of one of her popular tracks. It will be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and written by Matt Greenhalgh.
The film will focus on Amy’s early years in London and her dramatic rise to fame. Taylor-Johnson wants to specifically focus on Winehouse being a talented writer and genius musician. According to the press release, the focus of the film is on Amy’s, “vibrant years living in London in the early aughts and her intense journey to fame.”
It continues, “BACK TO BLACK will focus on Amy’s extraordinary genius, creativity, and honesty that infused everything she did. A journey that took her from the craziness and color of 90’s Camden High Street to global adoration - and back again, BACK TO BLACK crashes through the looking glass of celebrity to watch this journey from behind the mirror, to see what Amy saw, to feel what she felt.”
Who Else Is In ‘Back To Black’
As we mentioned, the singer is being portrayed by up-and-comer Marisa Abela and Ryan O'Doherty will play Chris Taylor one of Amy’s partners early in her life that also allegedly inspired some of her music.
Before passing, Amy did an interview in 2004 with MTV, where she shared that her song “Stronger Than Me” was written about the couple’s relationship and breakup.
“I wrote [“Stronger Than Me”] for a man that I was with at the time, who I wrote a lot of the songs about, and we had already split up a couple of times, and I really didn’t know why we were not supposed to be together.”
She said the song just came to her one day. That was genius of Amy, will the film be able to capture that? Only time will tell so far, the look is throwing fans off.
