As a judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race, Morris felt safe to share her opinion on the LGBTQ community and how being apart of the county music scene is an interesting experience. “Coming from country music and its relationship with LGBTQ+ members, I just want to say I’m sorry,” she stated sincerely.

“And I love you guys for making me feel like a brave voice in country music. So, I just thank you guys so much for inspiring me. … I’m gonna cry,” said the choked-up singer to the RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked competitors.

The Texas native’s emotions got to everyone and soon the room was emotional. The Untucked stars comforted Morris and told her she was “down” and “can roll” with their crew anytime.

Maren Morris Is A Advocate

The “Bones” singer went hard for the LGBTQ community last year when Jason and Brittany Aldean seemingly made disparaging comments about the community. “It’s so easy to, like, not be a scumbag human? Sell your clip-ins and zip it, Insurrection Barbie,” Morris snapped at Brittany who had just posted a message that could have offended many people in the LGBTQ community.

Brittany posted a video on Instagram of a makeup tutorial. She captioned the video, “I’d really like to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I went through my tomboy phase. I love this girly life🤎✌🏼.”

Morris wasn’t the only vocal person offended by this post. Cassadee Pope had her own opinion as well. “You’d think celebs with beauty brands would see the positives in including LGBTQ+ people in their messaging.”

Pope continued to tweet. “But instead, here we are, hearing someone compare their ‘tomboy phase’ to someone wanting to transition. Real nice.”

Maren Morris Is Embarrassed

The singer shared at GLAAD in September that “it was always just very normal,” for her to stand up for those who need support. “My mom was really close to her uncle growing up, who sadly died in the early ’90s of AIDS. It was just always a conversation in our household that we’re all the same and there is no ‘us’ and ‘you,’” She recalled.

Morris went on to share, “I definitely feel like it hits closer to home for me now, having a son — and I have gay family members.” Morris is more concerned with raising her son with Ryan Hurd in a world that is inclusive.

“All I can do going forward with my son is have those same conversations [that I was taught as a kids] so it’s not even a complex or a thing, because it shouldn’t be. I definitely get heated because … we’re talking about people’s lives. I do get extremely emotional when I talk about it.”

Since coming out to support the community, Morris has been attacked by the likes of Tucker Carlson and by default, fans of the Aldean’s so the support from the Drag Race competitors warmed her heart!
