"You traded a Ferrari for a Twingo, you traded a Rolex for a Casio." That's what Shakira said in her latest released song. If you didn't know yet, these are lyrics from a diss track pointed towards Shakira's ex-husband Gerard Pique that set social media on fire these last days.
Most people were shocked by the violence of the lyrics towards Pique but also his new girlfriend Clara Chía Marti. But who knew this was, in reality, the beginning of maybe one of the biggest clashes/wars in the history of social media? Well, soccer fans knew, because Gerard Pique is known for being one of the biggest "trolls" of the game. But this has gone to another level now.

As you can see in this video, it looks like Gerard Pique took word for word "You Traded a Ferrari for a Twingo" and decided to arrive at one of the most important games of the year, Barcelona VS Real Madrid, with a magnificent little Twingo at the stadium.
What's even funnier is, if you look closely, the face that he makes when he gets out of the car. Until the end, you don't know It's him inside, and when he heads out and looks at the cameras filming him, he has a huge smile, knowing perfectly what he has just done. It was all planned, and after all that was said about him in these lyrics, it was time for him to finally answer.
As said in the beginning, Gerard is a real troll of social media, and a lot of memes were created out of him, the most famous remains "Se Queda" when Neymar was leaving the Barcelona soccer team for the PSG soccer team. But that's not all, he did something else to provoke his ex-wife a few hours before that.
Pique signs a contract with Casio
Yeah, you read the headline well, it is not a joke. If you didn't know, along with other famous streamers like Ibai, Gerard Pique is the owner of the King's League, a futsal soccer championship where teams are made of only 7 players. And of course, for any soccer team, you need sponsors. And guess what? He got a new one, and It's Casio!

While wearing a Casio and showing it during the live stream, he declares that he just signed a partnership with Casio for the King's League and that he's very proud of it. He then adds that Casio "is an excellent watch, Casio is for life" before getting up and giving a brand new Casio to every lad on the live stream.
And of course, this will heat up again the relationship with Shakira and all the people around him, that are mostly against his decisions lastly. Luckily, he can still count on Sergio Aguero, the former Argentine soccer player, who was on the live stream with him. Aguero, who is also part of the Kings League project, was asked why Casio decided to sponsor the championship, and he answered "because of Shakira's song", causing hilarity on the set.
The answer of the brands
Of course, some of the brands have answered Shakira's lyrics. And not surprisingly, the ones which decided to communicate were not Ferrari or Rolex, which are glorified in the song, but the French car brand Renault and the Japanese watch brand Casio. For Casio, we know already what happened, they signed a partnership with Pique for his soccer championship.
Also, a parody account opened on Twitter and made people think it was really Casio who was answering to Shakira. But of course, it was debunked, even though, as you can see in the following tweet, the jokes are hilarious.

However, one brand that answered for real is Renault, with a little touch of humor and a reference to one of its most famous songs of Shakira.
#Renault #Twingo will still support you Shakira whenever, wherever https://t.co/EAkV0K2EVp

This has been tweeted on every Renault account all over the world, including Columbia, where the singer is from. Do you know what this means? Renault sides with Shakira while Casio sides with Pique. We may have a new war incoming between these brands, and with the combination of the clash between Shakira and Pique, this could be one of the greatest entertainments the Internet, and particularly Twitter, has never known. A story to be continued, for sure.
