Carey Mulligan is sporting some new curves these days; an adorable baby bump. The mom of two is about to become a mom of three!
Carey Mulligan Shared The Good News
Mulligan confirmed to People magazine via a rep that she is in fact expecting. She walked the red carpet of the American Film Institute Awards luncheon to support her film, She Said on Friday and people noticed a little bump underneath her dress.
Apparently, she was attempting to conceal her bump but at some point, that’s impossible. Mulligan was wearing a black dress with a cape that she paired with black heels. She was clearly trying not to draw attention to her bump.
Mulligan is well-versed in mommyhood with two children already, but she is excited to introduce a third to her family.
Carey Mulligan’s Whirlwind Romance
The actress met Mumford back in 2011 and got engaged a quick five months after. By 2012, the couple tied the knot in England in front of a large group of 200 guests. After the star-studded event that boasts attendees like Sienna Millier and Collin Firth, the couple settled into married life.
After three years of marriage, the couple welcomed their first child a daughter named Evelyn Grace, 7 and in 2017, they welcomed a son named Wilfred, 5. Oddly enough, or maybe not so odd seeming anymore, Mulligan chatted about motherhood a month ago to Vanity Fair. She described her experience as a mum and how it has changed her genetic makeup.
Carey Mulligan Sees A Difference Now
Mulligan has always chosen projects that mean something to her and while she continues to do that, being a mom of older children has forced her to alter how she does it. “It’s different now. When they’re tiny, they are sort of portable. Now mine are getting a bit older, it will become clearer what is and isn’t possible for us.”
But she is more subdued now. “I think in terms of the work, I feel a lot more relaxed. It’s that old cliché — the acting you do for free and everything else is what you get paid for.” She notes that she and Mumford are “lucky” to do the jobs that they want to do and realizes how it has allowed her to be a different kind of mom.
After her first child, Mulligan went back to work on Suffragette and shared that her slow pace of life added to the struggle of postpartum depression that she experience. "One of the parts of the script that hit me initially the most was Megan's experience with postnatal depression. I had a very similar experience with my first child seven years ago, and felt very alone, and very scared, and also very confused by the whole experience."
Work Helps Carey Mulligan Be A Better Mom
Luckily for herself and her husband, their jobs are a sanctuary for them. she admitted that going back to work in some capacity was "the thing that got me on the road to finding myself again with incredible support around me."
The actress adds. “That’s such a luxury in life and in the world to be able to do that. I think it’s sort of very obvious when it’s the right time to do something and not, whereas I think I probably debated more in the past. I feel very cut and dry.”
