Kanye West Sued For Copyright Infringement Over Kim Kardashian Song 'Flowers'

Kanye Westjust tied the knot, but he is about to be wrapped up in another legally binding situation.

The rapper is known for sampling many artists on his albums and Donda 2 followed in those same footsteps. But this time, the rapper is being accused by a company called Trax Records for not getting permission to sample one of their songs.

According to the lawsuit, obtained by The Blast, Ye sampled “Move Your Body” by Marshall Jefferson on “Flowers”, a song that is reportedly about his estranged ex-wife Kim Kardashian. Trax Records is claiming that the “Move Your Body” is instantly recognizable as “The House Music Anthem.”

In the filing, the label says Ye did not get permission to sample the song on his album, and to make matters worse, they say the “unauthorized sample taken by West is repeated at least 22 times throughout “Flowers.

The record company alleges in the lawsuit that "West’s unauthorized use of “Move Your Body” constitutes an unambiguous infringement of the copyright in the musical Master Recording “Move Your Body,” and of course is a blatant exploitation of the work without permission and compensation. Manifesting the height of hypocrisy, West advocates for artists’ rights with one hand, yet has no shame in taking away rights from another artist with the other."

Ye is being sued for profits and for damages under the maximum extent allowed in the amount of $150,000. Trax is also seeking a preliminary and permanent injunction that will keep Ye from directly or indirectly infringing in any manner any right in and to the Master Recording.

Kanye is currently busy playing the husband role again, but this lawsuit might just snap him back to reality!

Ye laid low for a solid few weeks and popped back up with a ring on his wedding finger. The lucky (or not so lucky?) lady is an architect with his company Yeezy, Bianca Censori. According to reports Ye’s new marriage is real, but is technically not legal because no marriage license has been filed.

That being said, it’s alleged that that marriage went down in a private Beverly Hills ceremony this week. After the wedding, the couple was spotted eating at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in Beverly Hills and that is where the gold wedding band was spotted on West’s finger.

The marriage is a shocker seeing as only a few months ago before Kim Kardashian's marriage was officially over, he was begging her to come back and talking about wanting his family together.

While Ye has seemingly moved on, Kim got candid about what it’s like co-parenting with the rapper. "Co-parenting is really f***ing hard," she told Angie Martinez on the “Angie Martinez IRL podcast”.

Kim spoke about staying strong and holding Kanye in a positive light in front of the four children they share. North, 9, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 3.

"If they don't know things that are being said, why would I ever bring that energy to them? That is real, heavy, grownup s--- that they are not ready to deal with," she said. "When they are, we will have those conversations. One day, my kids will thank me for not sitting here and bashing their dad. I could."

Kanye has yet to respond to the infringement allegations.
