"New year, new me" is the perfect term to describe ABC star Sunny Hostin as she has made the best decision for her body image way ahead of 2023.

Sunny, who has had body image issues since she was a teenager, underwent plastic surgery last summer, and she is surprisingly open about it, hoping her experience will inspire many.

Sunny Hostin Feels Like A Better Version Of Herself Following Plastic Surgery

The American lawyer recently had a sitdown and shared details about her cosmetic procedure; she had liposuction on her waist and chin and had her breast reduced and lifted.

In her talk with PEOPLE Magazine, she admitted that she felt like a "better version of herself" after her years of suffering back pain and body image concerns. "It was a health decision and self-care decision," she said before elaborating on her cosmetic journey to destigmatize the surgery.

Sunny thought she would be embarrassed by the experience after feeling as though she was doing plastic surgery like "all these crazy celebrities," but she was wrong. The talk show co-host confessed she did not feel any shame and hoped her narrative would help people, especially those feeling "so body-conscious" the way she was.

As a young girl growing up in New York City, the prime journalist began to feel self-conscious, possibly from having a double-D breast size when she clocked 16. Her concerns about her body continued until after she became a mother to her two kids, Gabriel, 20, and Paloma, 16, who shares with her husband, an orthopedic surgeon, Emmanuel Hostin, 52.

Sunny could not imagine her bosom getting any bigger with childbirth, but they shockingly did. And in 2016, when she joined "The View" full-time, she got even more insecure.

She explained, "My waist was small, but my top was so big I would wear a minimizer bra and a sports bra or a binder all the time." Alternatively, the TV host would get an oversized dress, and her stylist would put clips on the back so that everything would fit.

A major upsetting event last April contributed to her final decision to get the surgery done as she was getting dressed for the White House Correspondents' Dinner. At the time, she zipped up her Toni Maticevski dress, but the gown's bra did not fit, immediately causing her to shed tears and ultimately having to wrap her chest in masking tape for the evening.

"I sat there and didn't eat anything," she confessed. "I couldn't lift my hand because my boobs were going to fall out."

Additionally, Sunny was scared to take pictures at the occasion, even with the musical group Bell Biv DeVoe as she believed the shots would capture her breasts hanging out. Shamefaced, she booked an appointment straightaway with New York City-based cosmetic surgeon Dr. Ryan Neinstein and breast specialist Dr. Anna Steve.

On August 22, 2022, she underwent the procedure and later had a private nurse assist her during her two weeks of recovery, including drainage tubes to avoid blood and fluid buildup for three days. It was not a "glamorous" surgery. However, the 54-year-old correspondent was up and about within three days, returned to work in two weeks, and was doing Pilates in two months.

Sunny proudly declared she can now "prance around nude all the time" in her house, and she feels great after going from a G-cup to a C-cup. Moreover, she wanted her fans to know that while many celebs chose to keep their plastic surgery private, she wanted to be "really honest" about it all.

'The View' Co-host Gets Credit From Meghan McCain For Being A 'Great' TV Presence

Last year, the ABC News correspondent made headlines after she was commended by former "The View" host Meghan McCain who left the show in August 2021.

The Blast reported that McCain avoided most of her work colleagues after her exit except the New York native whom she has so much respect for. Speaking on the "Reality with The King" podcast, the "Dirty Sex Politics" author called Sunny "one of the greatest TV presences in all of television" and believed she could have her own show.

She also praised the mother-of-two for being the "most politically savvy person" on "The View," given her curiosity level, presumably absent in other presenters on the show,

McCain further admitted that Sunny was the only cast member she had a relationship with as she did not "demonize" her as others did during her time on "The View."
