Last year, T.I. made headlines for his controversial claim that he takes “yearly trips” to the gynecologist with his daughter, Deyjah Harris, in order to make sure that her hymen is still intact and reassure that she is still a virgin. 

Upon sharing this information, per Entertainment Tonight at the time, the rapper started an unfathomable level of controversy with fans, and eventually apologizing to his daughter for making the comment to begin with. 

Now, his stepdaughter Zonnique Pullins is commenting on T.I.’s progress since that public moment.

Speaking again to Entertainment Tonight via a Zoom call, Pullins elaborated on how far her father has come in his learning and bettering himself since making those controversial comments last year.

“That was definitely a big moment for everyone,” she led off her candid statement about how her stepfather has exacted conscious change in his life, adding, “He’s definitely just been learning with the girls on how to handle certain things and how to go about certain things when it comes to us.”

“I feel like it’s a lot of stuff he didn’t realize when it comes to a young girl’s feelings. So I feel like now he’s a little bit more careful. He just goes about everything a little bit differently now, definitely… He’s more sensitive with everything,” she went on to explain about her father’s shift in mentality.

On her sister and stepfather’s relationship post-his comments, she said that the pair respect and listen to “each other a lot more since then.”

“Their relationship has gotten better and they’ve both grown… He’s not overbearing in certain situations… He’s changed when it comes to Deyjah,” she went on to explain. “Their relationship is in a really good place, actually. It took a minute for them to get to this place, but I feel like they’re just doing really good.”

Beyond her stepfather and sister’s issues, Pullins is focused on her own pregnancy, which was announced back in August, and navigating the difficulties of becoming a new mother.

On revealing to T.I. that she was pregnant, she said the exchange was wholesome.

“I definitely expected his reaction to be a lot like how it was… I didn’t expect him to be extremely happy and like, ‘Oh my God! Congratulations!’ because I know how he is. He’s a Libra. He doesn’t really play… I was pretty happy to share that moment with the world; me telling him and telling the world all at the same time was pretty hilarious to me,” she quipped to the publication.
