Last month, “The Masked Singer” kicked off its fourth season on Fox and it’s safe to say that everyone is thinking extra hard and trying to figure out who is singing underneath those costumes.
The panelists — Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong, Robin Thicke, and Jenny McCarthy — all returned for the new season along with the host, Nick Cannon.
One contestant that stood out among the others this past episode was Seahorse. But who are they? And who did the panel think it is…
An Established Female Singer
For their debut performance, Seahorse performed Rihanna’s pop banger “Only Girl (In the World).”
From the second they sang, it was obvious this was a female singer with one hell of a voice who must do this for a living.
For their first clue package, Seahorse was seen wearing a cowboy hat and boots throughout, implying it could be a country star. Seahorse was seen sipping on tea/coffee by a campfire with a frog, two dogs, and a dove sitting opposite them. A hog with warts was also shown in one frame, hinting that they could have some relation to Harry Potter.
Who Did The Panel Think It Is?
When it came down to the panel guessing who it could be, they seemed to be on the right page as everyone else, knowing it must be an established star.
From the clues alone, McCarthy went with Halsey because she noticed the rainbow frog and that they said they have “fire burning inside,” which she thinks is a reference to her song called “Angel On Fire.”
Scherzinger went with actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld while Thicke predicted Bebe Rexha as she’s had recent success in country music with her smash hit “Meant to Be.”
Who It Actually Is…
The panel seems to be on the right path with their guesses but didn’t quite get it right.
With all the clues given, it appears that the two-time Grammy Award winner Tori Kelly is in fact Seahorse!
Kelly has performed with Kermit, which is why a frog was shown. She has a pet poodle and a song titled “City Dove,” which is why those animals were also sitting at the campfire. They didn’t state whether Seahorse was sipping tea or coffee but either way, both drinks relate to Kelly. As seen on Instagram, she has been doing lives with other celebrities called “QuaranTEA,” and also has a song on her most recent studio album called “Coffee.”
As revealed in a fan’s Twitter thread, Kelly is also a huge Harry Potter fan.
What Are Viewers Saying?
It seems that fans of the show have been doing their research too and believe Kelly is performing as Seahorse.
“Seahorse on the masked singer may be wearing heels & dancing with dancers but u not fooling me ms. tori kelly,” one user wrote.
“A seahorse costume is not going to stop me from recognizing Tori Kelly’s voice,” another shared.
