Famous singer El DeBarge won't be dancing "til the morning light" for a while after having a run-in with the cops and being arrested on weapon and narcotics charges. Burbank PD revealed that DeBarge was at a gas station when officers noticed his expired car tags, then saw an illegal expandable metal baton in the vehicle.

The baton prompted a further search, which turned up pepper spray, a substance suspected to be heroin, and exposed DeBarge's invalid driver's license. He's been booked on charges of possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia, and a leaded cane or baton.

DeBarge recently had a run-in with Burban police at midnight, which resulted in him getting busted on weapon and narcotics charges. According to Burbank PD's communication with TMZ, the "Rhythm of the Night" singer was already at the gas station when the police pulled over to get some gas.

The cops initially noticed that DeBarge had expired tags on his car and, when they approached the singer, noticed an expandable metal baton just sitting in plain sight in the vehicle. DeBarge's recent gas station arrest isn't the first time he's had legal trouble concerning drugs. The "I like it" singer was first arrested for drug possession in 2001 and then multiple times between 2006 and 2008. He later served a 13-month prison sentence, after which he announced that he'd gone completely clean from drugs.

However, in 2011, it was confirmed that DeBarge had returned to rehab for drug problems. A five-time Grammy nominee, the singer has topped music charts with songs like "Love Always" and "Who's Johnny." He was also part of his family group, DeBarge, who had hits like "Who's Holding Donna Now" and "Rhythm of the Night."
