“What an idiot” – just one of many replies slamming Jenelle Evans over her 9/11 Twitter activity. The former “Teen Mom 2” star is currently making major headlines for commemorating the 2001 terrorist attack on New York City’s Twin Towers, with Jenelle seemingly destroyed over her photo as much as her caption.
Jenelle updated her Twitter on Friday September 11, paying her respects to the day 2,977 people were killed as the al-Qaeda attack drove two planes into NYC’s landmark doubl high-rises, also attacking the Pentagon and Shanksville, PA. Check out her tribute below.
Scroll for the photo, plus Jenelle sharing her experience of 9/11 – at 28 years old, the ex MTV face is old enough to remember it. Jenelle had shared a picture of office employees by a large window and enjoying coffee and donuts. The floor-to-ceiling glass overlooking the Manhattan skyline also overlooked a plane flying towards the building.
A closer look at the image shows one of the male trio of employees dropping his coffee cup and appearing surprised. “#Neverforget911 #911anniversary,” Jenelle wrote.

“Sorry for everyone that lost their family or friends. My uncle retired a week before. I can almost relate. #NeverForget #Remember911.”
Fans have been reacting.
“Omg i just bust out laughing bc i read that as her comparing her uncle retiring to 9/11. ZERO things are funny about 9/11. Many things are rediculous that she says,” one user wrote. More replies after the tweet.

Jenelle, sharing her own recollection of 9/11 (keep scrolling), now sees mass backlash as a result of her tweet.
“How are you this tone deaf? Awful picture!” one fan exclaimed, with another calling the image “horrible” and asking “who would post something like that?” Jenelle was also called stupid – “dumb” was one fan’s take – with the mom of three also ripped apart by a user writing:
“The worst part is realizing she was nearly 25 YEARS OLD when she wrote this. It’s not like she’s an 11 yr old who just doesn’t understand and said something cringe. She was an adult woman when she had this thought and published it for the world to see.”
Jenelle added a separate tweet:
“I was in 3rd grade walking home from school because they let us out early. Back then it was safe to walk home from school. When I arrived through my front door, I saw my mom crying and watching the news. She explained to me how…”
This tweet received less negativity, but Jenelle, followed by 1.3 million on Twitter, has her work cut out in the comments section. Jenelle does not appear to have responded to the backlash. Meanwhile, husband David Eason has been in the news over racism allegations as he touted “Whiteout Wednesday.”
