Fans Accuse Drake Of Being 'Rebranded' After Clip Reveals What He Really Thinks Of The 6ix

Drake is getting clowned online after an old clip of him talking trash about Toronto resurfaces on social media.

The rapper before he was a rapper was riding high off his Degrassi High days and getting offered more TV roles including a reality show on N a subsite of Nickelodeon called My Best Friends Date where Drake who went by Aubrey Graham back then went on a double date with a friend.

The conversation that took place was a far cry from the love that Drake shows the 6ix now. When asked by one of the females if Canada, more specifically Toronto had any words that are “funky” and “Weird”, Drake referenced a popular way that Torontonians reference themselves.

“Mans like you” said Drake claiming the “guys at school” use the term.

He explained that it instead of saying “what are you guys doing”, Torontonians would use the slang term instead. He even went as far as to give an example and used it in a sentence like a real prep school kid.

“so, mans like you are going to that,” quoted Drake with a hint of the more elaborate hand gestures we see from him today. One of the females chalked it up to an age thing but Drake said hell no. “No, it’s not. It’s really ignorant.”

At the time, the rapper was in his teens and growing up going to prep school and in a household where his black father wasn’t the primary caregiver we can see why he wouldn’t recognize the term derived from the Jamaican dialect and how it’s actually supposed to use it.

We salute the one chick who tried to clarify the term but regardless, you know the followers had to comment about the rapper and this resurfaced clip.

“Drake somebody different every 6 months…” noticed one follower. “That man is an actor portraying a rapper,” suggested many of the followers of the trend in one way or another.

“Have some respect…this around the same time he was just put in a wheelchair ???,” one followed joked about the fate of Drake’s Degrassi character Jimmy who was shot and paralyzed.

“When he gets done with rap I feel like he’ll go back to the real him and admit that it was an act! I’m actually convinced that’s what he’ll do!?”

Some followers of the post pointed out that this is rebranding at its finest seeing as Drake comes off as not wanting anything to do with the 6ix slang. “Drake’s rebrand as a black man is one of the biggest accomplishments of the 2000s.”

While another follower pointed out the specifics of his rebranding. “Chile, he found out ACTING like a hoodlum would lead appropriate him to WEALTH.??.”

Another follower pointed out that Drake reps the 6ix but his experiences may have largely been outside of the core GTA. “????? Y’all know Drake is a prep school kid …”
