Latin artist and global superstar Bad Bunny didn't take too kindly to a fan waving their phone in his face.
A clip of the rapper went viral earlier this week, which showed him throwing a fan's phone into the water. Following this, Bad Bunny released a statement addressing the issue.
This was one out of several positive encounters with fans over the past few weeks. While the "La Noche De Anoche" singer enjoys spending time with them, he said he only asks for "respect" whenever they come around for autographs or selfies.
Bad Bunny also spent some of the past weeks gifting fans through his Good Bunny Foundation. The star gave out over 25000 gifts at the Bonita Tradición drive in Puerto Rico. He also recently recorded a music video for his new song "La Jumpa," after which he surprised fans with an impromptu concert.

Bad Bunny Threw A Fan's Phone Into Water
The viral video showed the Grammy Award winner walking down a road as a fan approached him. The fan then shoved her phone in Bad Bunny's face as she tried to record them together. After smiling a little, the rapper took the phone and threw it away. The video then showed the phone landing in a body of water nearby.
The viral video has shocked several fans on social media, with some agreeing with his action and others condemning it. While referring to a clip that showed singer Dua Lipa in a similar situation, a disgruntled Twitter fan wrote, "This is how you denny [sic] a picture, not throwing your fans phones to a river. Remember if they weren't there you would never be where you are."
In response to the backlash, the star put out a statement to explain why he reacted that way.
Bad Bunny Released A Statement On The Matter
On Monday, the "La Santa" singer took to Twitter to explain his side of the story in a statement he wrote in Spanish. He revealed that he likes to spend time with fans and assured them that he respects them. However, he wouldn't watch them disrespect him and do nothing about it.
He wrote, "The person who comes up to me to say hello, to tell me something, or just to meet me, will always receive my attention and respect." Referring to the water incident, he continued, "Those who come and put a f***ing phone in my face, I will consider it for what it is, a lack of respect, and I will treat it likewise."
This incident comes after several great experiences with fans towards the end of 2022. Bad Bunny recently gave out several gifts at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente Walker arena through his Good Bunny Foundation event.
How The Foundation Event Went
The multi-platinum 28-year-old star formed the charity foundation in Puerto Rico to support children by giving them materials and opportunities to help them follow their dreams. It also gives them free resources to expose them to music, sports, and artistic skills.

With almost 40000 followers on Instagram, the foundation organized the December 27th event to gift fans some supplies and equipment. Bad Bunny also gave food and drinks to everyone at the event and treated fans to a meet and greet and live performances.
Bad Bunny Surprised Fans With A Concert
Following the heartfelt event, Bad Bunny spent some time recording some clips of the music video for "La Jumpa," one of his recent songs with rapper Arcángel.
As the star filmed a part of the video, many fans crowded the Calle Loíza area to watch him. Bad Bunny, in an amazing turn of events, then surprised them by performing some of his fan-favorite songs like "Efecto," "El Apagón," "Gato de Noche," and "Me Porto Bonito."
Several clips of the performance went viral on social media as the star gave fans a show from the top of a gas station.
