Singer LeToya Luckett said things got so touch after she left Destiny’s Child that she ended up sleeping in her car.
Over the weekend, LeToya hopped on Instagram Live to talk to her fans. During the chat, the singer decided to get personal about her past.
LeToya was one of the original members of Destiny’s Child with Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and LaTavia Roberson. The story goes Beyoncé’s dad, who was managing the group, kicked LeToya and LaTavia out of the group unexpectedly in 1999. They were replaced by Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin, the latter was kicked out too.

In the years since LeToyahttps://www.hot97.com/hip-hop-news/hot-news/letoya-luckett-tearfully-recalls-being-homeless-after-destinys-child-ended/ has become an uber-successful recording artist in her own right. The singer shared that everything wasn’t always gold in the post-DC years. She said things got so bad she ended up sleeping in her car and living off microwave noodles.
She discussed not having gone to college because of the group’s early success. She found herself struggling to find jobs after being fired. She said, “I was staying at people’s houses … I slept in a car in LA while I was making my first [solo] album. Not a lot of nights, but a few.”
LeToya said she was 18 years old at the time and was staying at an extended stay in a hotel. The singer said the only way for her to survive financially was to eat Oodles of Noodles. She would cook then in a coffee pot inside her hotel room.
It took her a couple years to get back on her feet. She said when she was hired for the lead in the 2010 movie “Preacher’s Kid” she finally was able to move out of the hotel.
Back in 2018, LeToya attended one of Beyoncé’s concerts and went backstage to take photos with her.
