“Alaskan Bush People” star Bear Brown is showering his mother with love on her birthday weekend after the family suffered a catastrophic loss when a wildfire ripped through their rural Washington home. The Discovery reality star took to Instagram this weekend to send birthday wishes to Ami Brown on her 57th birthday.
“Happy Birthday to my Mother!!! The strongest and most courageous women I’ve ever known!!” Bear wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of himself giving a big smile and a thumbs up.
Bear continued gushing with love for his mom, adding:
“We’ve had a pretty hard time the past few years, but we’ve also had some monumental moments! Mom has gotten the grandchildren she has always wanted! I feel very blessed to still have my mother with me and that she has gotten to see the Wolfpack grow even larger with grandchildren!!!! Through all the adversity we’ve faced we still stand together as a family! Even stronger because of it!!!! Happy birthday Mom!!!!!!!”
Bear wasn’t kidding when he said the family has had a tough time the past few years. Back in 2017, Ami was diagnosed with Stage III non-small cell lung cancer. She was given only a 3% survival rate and was in and out of the hospital during treatment.
The family rallied around Ami and even moved from their homestead in Alaska down to Washington to be closer to medical care for Ami during her battle. Luckily, she was able to overcome the odds and went into remission last year and has appeared to remain healthy.
Most recently, the Brown family was hit with turmoil when the mountain they moved to in Washington erupted in flames during a deadly wildfire.
Discovery addressed the fire in the season-opener of “Alaskan Bush People,” explaining that a wildfire tore through Palmer Mountain and destroyed much of the Brown’s homestead. The extent of the damage was still unclear as crews were still dealing with the aftermath of the devastation and the Brown’s had not revealed whether they were able to return to the mountain.
As a response to the worried fans, Discovery had the Brown children put out a video explaining what had happened. The reality stars also admitted that they are doing ok financially, but others will definitely need help to rebuild and get their lives started again.
In a video message, Noah, Rhain Alicia, Rainy, Birdie and Bear Brown let everyone know what was going on and also raising awareness on where to donate to those in need during the tragic fire.
“There’s been a massive wildfire on Palmer Mountain,” Noah began explaining in the video posted to Instagram.
“Everybody made it out completely safe … we are all totally good!” Bear added.”
Birdie Brown thanked the firefighters and firs responders who are “working hard” to put out the fire, and Rainy asked that those who are able to reach out and help please do so.
