Miley Cyrus knows exactly what she will do more of in the New Year!
As 2023 draws closer, individuals, including celebrities, are jotting down the to-dos that would make the year awesome for them. Cyrus joined the crowd when she realized and announced her resolution for the new year ahead of her co-hosting a midnight countdown with singer Dolly Parton.
Miley Cyrus Plans To Be A Better Listener In 2023
While fans prepare to see Cyrus and Parton engaging in the countdown tradition during the "Miley's New Year's Eve Party" on Saturday, December 31, the former is getting ready to be a better listener.
The country singer shared her 2023 resolution ahead of the festivities with Hoda Kotb during an appearance on NBC's soon-to-air "A Toast to 2022!" special. The exclusive clip, which PEOPLE obtained, showed Cyrus stating:
"I guess my resolution would really be — my instinct is very loud, but I'm not a great listener sometimes."
The 30-year-old further informed Kotb that Parton relayed a message from her husband, Carl Thomas Dean, that went, "'You're not hard of hearing. You're hard of listening.' And I guess that would kind of be my resolution, to not just listen to myself, but listen to others."
When the host asked the "We Can't Stop" singer if she felt differently after entering her 30s last month, she replied, "I always say that my truth and the opposite of what that is is also true. Somehow I'm completely different, and then somehow, I'm exactly the same."
Turning 30 must have been memorable for Cyrus, who got a significant show of love from Parton. The 76-year-old, who doubles as the "So Undercover" actress's godmother, had taken to Instagram to drop two snaps of them smiling.
While the first slide featured the "Wrecking Ball" hitmaker hugging her godmother from behind with her eyes closed, the second showed the duo standing akimbo as they leaned against each other's backs.
The twosome was surrounded by black and gold balloons and decor, which paired perfectly with their outfits for the shoot. Cyrus rocked a sleeveless black gown — showing off the tattoos on her arms — and a pair of matching heels.
On the other hand, Parton opted for a long-sleeved gold number with black trimmings along the wrist, shoulders, chest, and belly regions. The philanthropist added a black ring and a pair of gold slippers to her look.
Tagging the singer-songwriter in the caption, Parton gushed, "I can't wait to celebrate with you and ring in the new year!!" Other famed stars and fans quickly camped in the comment section, where they showered the celebrant with love.
"I love seeing Miley and her (magical, fairy ) godmother!" one fan wrote, referring to the bond shared by Cyrus and Parton. A second fan called the duo a "power couple," and a third asked them to do a TV show together.
A fourth person applauded them for how they "love each other," and others commented that they were anticipating their New Year's Eve celebration. The Blast shared that the event would make a comeback to NBC and Peacock, with Parton taking the place of Pete Davidson.
Executive produced by "Saturday Night Live" creator Lorne Michaels, the party will feature a star-studded lineup of special guests and performers, including Latto, FLETCHER, Sia, Rae Sremmurd, Liily, SNL's Sarah Sherman and Chloe Fineman.
"Miley's New Year's Eve Party" will air from Miami on the scheduled date from 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
The 'Bolt' Voice Actress Dissolves Her Relationship With Her Father
Miley's relationship with her father, Billy Ray, has allegedly suffered a rough patch following the latter's divorce from the Cyrus matriarch, Tish. The Blast reported last month that the father-daughter duo finally had a dispute after months of walking on thin ice around each other.
The disagreement turned out to be worse than initially expected, as an insider claimed that Miley and Billy had not spoken to each other since. In the words of the anonymous tipster:
"Miley has simply had enough of her Dad. Things were already tense between Miley and Billy Ray, but they had a blowup this summer. There hasn't been a word between them since."
The source added that the tension between father and daughter resulted from Miley's belief that her dad "was trying to cash in on her fame, dating back to when she played Hannah Montana on TV." Ultimately, the "Hannah Montana" star believed that her mom "looks out for her."
