Boxing icon, Gervonta Davis was recently taken into custody in Fort Lauderdale after being arrested on domestic violence charges. The former world champion was arrested on Tuesday and will appear in a court hearing on December 28th. Davis was scheduled to fight Hector Luis Garcia in Washington on January 7th, but it's now unclear if the fight will still hold.
Davis has won multiple world championships and remains undefeated after over nine years into his professional boxing career. He also has a prior domestic violence arrest for forcefully grabbing his ex-girlfriend by the throat at a charity basketball game. He later admitted to being aggressive with her but denied ever hitting her because she's the mother of his child.
Davis has a scheduled court appearance in February for his alleged involvement in a 2020 hit-and-run incident. A Baltimore judge recently refused to approve a plea deal that would have sentenced him to house arrest instead of jail time. Davis was accused of fleeing the crime scene, which involved a pregnant woman, and now faces 14 charges.

Gervonta Davis Was Arrested On Domestic Violence Charges
On Tuesday, December 27th, Davis was arrested in Parkland, Florida, and booked on domestic violence charges. According to the Broward County Sheriff's Office records (per Sky Sports), the charges against Davis are for battery causing bodily harm.
After his arrest, Davis was held in custody in Fort Lauderdale and booked for a court hearing on Wednesday, December 28th. Details of the former world champion's arrest and the domestic violence allegations have not yet been made public. However, TMZ recently posted a photo of Davis as he was being taken into custody.

The 28-year-old, who is an icon in American boxing, was scheduled to fight Luis Garcia on January 7th. The highly anticipated fight was meant to be held in Washington, but it's now unclear if his arrest will affect the fight and mean a postponement. He was also expected to fight fellow unbeaten boxer Ryan Garcia in a widely publicized April match.
Davis has won multiple world championships in three different weight classes, including the WBA lightweight title, which he's held since 2019. The Baltimore native remains undefeated almost ten years into his professional boxing career. He has 27 wins and zero losses from all
his matches.
Gervonta Davis Previously Faced Misdemeanor Battery Charges
Davis has previously been arrested on domestic violence charges. In 2020, the famous boxer was captured on video violently grabbing his ex-girlfriend by the throat. The former couple was attending a charity basketball game organized by the University of Miami when the incident occurred.
Davis surrendered himself to the police a few days after the video went viral on Twitter, with many calling for his arrest. He was subsequently charged with simple battery and domestic violence. His ex reportedly suffered injuries to her lips and jaw, according to the police report at the time.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, the boxer addressed the charges, admitting that he was "aggressive" but denying ever striking her. He wrote, "I never once hit her," Davis wrote. "Yea I was aggressive and told her come on … That's the mother of my child. I would never hurt her."
Gervonta Davis Also Involved In A Hit-And-Run Incident
According to ESPN, Davis also has a court appearance scheduled for February concerning his alleged involvement in a hit-and-run incident in November 2020. At his December 12th appearance, a Baltimore Circuit judge denied a plea deal that would have helped Davis avoid jail time. He would have been sentenced to only 60 days of house arrest.
The hit-and-run incident reportedly occurred on November 5th, 2020, and involved four people, including a pregnant woman. Davis has been accused of fleeing the crime scene and is now facing 14 charges, including one for his failure to return and remain at the accident scene involving bodily injury.
