It appears a member of the "family" could be making a comeback. The Direct reports that "Wonder Woman" star Gal Gadot is set to reunite with her "Fast and Furious" family and reprise her role as Gisele Yashar for the film series' landmark 10th installment.
Gal Gadot Reportedly Returning For 'Fast And Furious 10'
The next installment of the franchise, "Fast and Furious 10," also called "Fast X," is due out next May. The sequel will also see Gadot's DCEU and "Justice League" costar Jason Momoa make his franchise debut as a new villain, and it looks like Gadot may also be along for the ride.
Gadot previously made her big screen debut for the franchise's fourth outing, "Fast & Furious," in 2009. She returned as Gisel in two more films, "Fast 5" in 2011 and "Fast & Furious 6" in 2013, where it appeared her character met her ultimate end. However, that has never stopped actors and characters from returning to the franchise in the past.
Case in point, Sung Kang's Han Lue came back to the franchise after his character seemingly died, technically in the third movie "Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift," which was tied back into the ending of "Fast & Furious 6." "F9: The Fast Saga" finally explained how Han has been alive the entire time if fans are able to keep up with all that.
It also appeared that Michelle Rodriguez's Letty was also killed off in "Fast & Furious," the fourth film, only for a post-credits scene in "Fast 5" to reveal that she's still alive, restoring her relationship with Dom Toretto in "Fast & Furious 6."
The details of Gadot's return as Gisele in "Fast X" are currently unknown. But with Han back in the picture, maybe Gisele and Han will finally be reunited and make it to Tokyo together after all. Since Kurt Russell's recurring character, Mr. Nobody, helped Han fake his death in the previous films, perhaps something similar happened with Gisele.
The news comes after Gadot's days as Wonder Woman, aka Diana of Themiscyra, appear to be effectively over. As reported by The Blast, DC Studios and Warner Bros. Discovery appear to not be moving forward with another "Wonder Woman" sequel from filmmaker Patty Jenkins and starring Gadot.
Universal Pictures and the "Fast X" productions have not yet confirmed Gadot's return to the film series. And the way the films like to play their cards, it might be a surprise until she finally shows up in the film.
"Fast X" sees the return of Vin Diesel as Dom Toretto, Rodriguez as Letty Ortiz, Jason Statham as Deckard Shaw, John Cena as Jakob Toretto Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pearce, Ludacris as Tej Parker, Nathalie Emmanuel as Ramsey, and Kang as Han Lue. The sequel also introduces Momoa as Dante and MCU star Brie Larson as Tess.
It appears while one franchise door might have closed with "Wonder Woman," another one has reopened itself for Gadot with "Fast and Furious," and it's the one where she found her breakout success on the big screen. "Fast X" will hit theaters on May 19, 2023.
