The Los Angeles District Attorneyis giving Megan Thee Stallion her major props for being brave enough to stand up to Tory Lanez.
Los Angeles DA Is Impressed With Meg Thee Stallion
District Attorney George Gascón announced that Tory Lanez was convicted of assault today in the 2020 shooting of former friend Megan Thee Stallion. The incident took place in the Hollywood Hills after a get together at Kylie Jenner’s house.
The DA said he is impressed that Meg has kept her composure and had the strength and wherewithal to speak her truth and endure a brutal two week trial. “I want to start by highlighting the bravery of Megan Pete,” he said.
“You showed incredible courage and vulnerability with your testimony despite repeated and grotesque attacks that you did not deserve,” notes Gascón, referring to the ups and downs of the trial. Adding, "You faced unjust and despicable scrutiny that no woman should ever face and you have been an inspiration to others across LA County and the nation.”
Meg Thee Stallion Is A Hero To Women
Gascón made sure to note that the “Sweetest Pie” rapper is an inspiration to women, who often find it difficult to come forward when assaulted in any manner. The DA highlighted her willingness to participate and the lasting effect it will have due to her influence.
“Women, especially Black women, are afraid to report crimes like assault and sexual violence because they are too often not believed. This trial, for the second time this month, highlighted the numerous ways that our society must do better for women.”
The DA also thanked the jurors “for their time and thoughtful deliberation.” He shouted out the “trial team for their tireless pursuit of the truth. You spent countless hours away from your families during the holiday season preparing this case and finding justice for Ms. Pete. Your sacrifice is appreciated.”
Tory Lanez Is Facing 22 Years In Prison
The Canadian-born rapper whose real name is Daystar Peterson was involved in an altercation with Meg back in 2020 where he is now found guilty of shooting her in the foot/ankle after a night of partying.
Meg’s best friend at the time Kelsey Nicole was also in the car when shots were fired and offered up a confusing testimony that didn’t help either side. Tory ended up getting a guilty verdict after the messy two week trial and he could now face deportation back to Canada.
Tory’s sentencing is scheduled for January 27 when he will find out how long he will have to sit in a cell.
