Kailyn Lowry is eating her own placenta – well, drinking it. The “Teen Mom 2” star is currently fronting media outlets for the Monday night announcement that baby number four was welcomed without a hitch – Kailyn, 28, gave birth on July 30 to a baby boy weighing a healthy 8lbs, 15oz.
Kailyn, who welcomed her baby at home and hasn’t yet named her fourth son, has been busy on Instagram with the afterbirth. The MTV face shared a smoothie snap today – and it wasn’t a Starbucks kind of deal.

News that sons Isaac, Lincoln, and Lux have been joined by a fourth boy. “No name yet, but we are all healthy and so in love,” she told the media outlet. Kailyn then cracked a COVID joke, saying: “I can check giving birth off my pandemic bucket list.”
The smoothie photo came as a selfie posted to Kailyn’s stories. Her 3.8 million followers saw a post-birth shot of Kailyn holding a reddish-looking smoothie in a plastic cup with a straw.
The upbeat snap showing a semi-surprised and semi-smiling Kail came captioned: “CAN YOU GUESS WHAT I’M DRINKING?”
Fans had the option to type in a response, but with the Pothead haircare founder tagging @LANCASERPLACENTACO, the ingredients were pretty obvious.
Reactions have been interesting – the placenta smoothie quickly made its way over to social networking site Reddit, where the “Teen Mom” subreddit comes with a diehard fanbase.
“To each their own, but its gonna be a no for me dawg,” one fan wrote. Others, meanwhile, questioned the health benefits of consuming placenta after birth.
Kailyn is a known anti-vaxxer, with the mindset being mentioned by one user, seemingly dubbing the mom of four a hypocrite:
“She never cares about her health any other time. No seat belts for her or the kids, is anti vax, buys crap fast food every day and is proud of it. She thinks this is cool,” they wrote.
Kailyn is a regular when it comes to being victim of trolling. Her entire pregnancy came with cruel taunts, particularly over her having three baby daddies.
Kailyn welcomed first son Isaac with ex Jo Rivera. Second son Lincoln was fathered by the star’s ex Javi Marroquin, with Chris Lopez fathering both 2-year-old Lux and the fourth baby. Kailyn had addressed having a fourth back in 2019, even relating that she wanted Lopez to father the then-potential baby.
“I said that Lux will probably be my last child. I would definitely have more, but I also know that my life isn’t really set up for another right now. Ideally I would have liked Chris to be the father of my next child,” she told Us Weekly.
