'Bachelorette' Gabby Windey Reveals If She And Erich Schwer Still Talk After Breakup

Gabby Windey and Erich Schwer, who got engaged during the “Bachelorette: After the Final Rose”, ended their engagement just a few weeks after the finale aired.
Windey was spotted without her engagement ring on her finger during multiple “Dancing With the Stars” performances and fans began to speculate the two parted ways. Then, a few weeks later, Gabby addressed the break-up during a different episode of the reality competition show, after her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, revealed they would be dancing a waltz routine to Des’ree’s “I Am Kissing You.”
“For me, it holds a special place because I did just go through a breakup,” Gabby told Val. “The end of our relationship happened because we weren’t completely in step and in sync with each other on our common goals or just the way we approach life. We weren’t each other’s best match.”
Where Do Gabby and Erich Stand Now?
During an episode of the "Click Bait with Bachelor Nation podcast," which is co-hosted by Bachelor alums Joe Amabile and Natasha Parker, Gabby was asked if she and Erich still keep in touch after their breakup.
"Straight to the point!," Gabby joked before adding, "I think naturally -- I think we ended pretty amicably."
She continued, "There's always time when you don't speak to your ex after [a breakup], but I don't wish him ill will at all. I genuinely think it unfortunately just wasn't the right time for us."
The "Dancing With the Stars" runner-up continued to explain how the two were just in different places in their lives. "I think you don't realize the bubble you're in until you try to make the relationship work outside of the show... There's so much more learning after you leave the bubble, and I think we are just in two very different places in our life."
All in all, there are no hard feelings between the two.
Erich Is Grateful For His Time With Gabby
Not long after Gabby addressed the breakup on "Dancing With the Stars," Erich took to his Instagram Story to speak his peace.
“A lot of you are reaching out with questions about me and Gabby,” he began. “The reality i that we ultimately were not each others people – it’s hard when there isn’t one thing to put your finger on.”
The 29-year-old continued to explain how meeting on a reality show was a “unique” situation, but he will always be grateful for Gabby coming into his life. “We met in a very unique situation and in a very unique way and I’m grateful we did. I would never take it back,” Erich continued. “Gabby is an amazing person and she is doing amazing things. I will always root for her and I hope she gives them hell in the DWTS finale.”
Erich Schwer was caught in a few controversies as the”Bachelorette” finale neared — including a Blackface controversy as well as leaked text messages indicating Erich had a girl back home before filming “The Bachelorette.” In his message to his fans on Instagram, he said, “I have learned and grown so much this year from experiences and mistakes and I continue to better myself every day. I am hoping to take this time with my family and loved ones and focus on myself.”
He concluded, “I have been working hard these past few months and I’m excited to share with y’all eventually.”
