Todd was found guilty of conspiring to defraud community banks out of more than $30 million of fraudulent loans, as well as a number of tax crimes, including conspiring to defraud the IRS, tax evasion.
The matriarch of the Chrisley family was found guilty of wire fraud and obstruction of justice.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office noted that before the pair became reality TV stars, they submitted false bank statements, audit reports, and personal financial statements to banks to obtain the millions of dollars in fraudulent loans and then spent the money on luxury cars, designer clothes, real estate, and travel and used new fraudulent loans to pay back old ones.
Speaking to People, Lindsie explained how Todd and Julie are living out their last days before prison.
Lindsie Chrisley Said Her Parents Are Relishing In Their Freedom
"My parents regularly say, and I believe they've said on their podcast as well, that at this time it's basically living every day like it's your last, enjoying the moment, spending time with their kids that are in Nashville,” she said.
Lindsie has a rocky relationship with Todd and Julie, but it’s clear she’s supporting them from afar.
"Of course, I'm spending time with my parents over the phone because I also have shared custody [with my ex-husband William Campbell]. So I don't have the luxury of being able to just pick up and go to Nashville and be there until January,” she admitted. “But my parents are definitely dedicating their time in therapy and their biblical studies as well as with their children."
She noted that the rest of the Chrisley family is “adjusting to what is now our new normal.”
Todd and Julie will report to federal prison early next year.
According to reports, the reality TV couple will start their respective prison sentences by mid-January.
The Chrisley Family Is Adjusting To Their "New Normal"
People Magazine provided documents filed by the US Marshal’s Office stating that the couple was expected in Florida to begin their time behind bars on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.
According to the prison’s website, both correctional facilities are “medium security federal correctional institutions with an adjacent minimum security satellite camp.” They are only 144 miles (around two and a half hours) from each other.
Peter Tarantino, the couple’s former accountant, was also included in the sentencing; however, he will report to prison Monday, May 1, 2023, to carry out his three-year sentence.
Despite being found guilty and their sentencing, Todd and Julie have maintained their innocence.
They also revealed that they intend to appeal the sentencing for a more favorable outcome. After appearing in court and receiving their sentencing in November, Alex Little of Burr & Forman LLP, their lawyer, spoke to People Magazine.
