Marques Houston's Set To Wed 19-Year-Old Fiancé Miya This Year

38-year-old Marques Houston is set to marry his 19-year-old fiancé Miya despite growing controversy.
Over the weekend, Miya had a bridal shower with a couple of close friends. She shared photos from the event writing, “Literally the best friends/ bridal party I could ever ask for. Thank you guys for setting this lil quarantine bridal shower up for me! And thank you to everyone who sent me gifts or just popped on the zoom call to show support and love!!!
Love you all so much!?.”
Marques wrote, “Surprise, Surprise! My fiancé @iammiyahouston soon to be wife ?? hope you’re having fun at your surprise Quarantine bridal shower! Thank you @iamchrissy97 and @nynalala for hooking it up so beautifully ??? and all who supported via Zoom! #JW We truly have the greatest family and friends #CantWaitToMarryYou #HoustonsComingSoon.”
Bridal showers are usually thrown two weeks to two months before a wedding. The two don’t seem to be bothered by the criticism they have been receiving over their age difference. In the beginning, many people had questions about the exact date Marques first met Miya.
Back in March 2019, Marques announced he had proposed to Miya. They first started dating in September 2018 but not many people knew her age until recently.
Marques originally tried to explain the situation writing, “I met Miya in 2018 through a mutual friend. Never before then, did I even know she existed. Miya is like a daughter to Chris Stokes because we are all like family. Being a Jehovah’s Witness, we all showcase true love like family. That’s it. Chris’ real daughter, Chrissy Morales became friends with Miya in 2018, where we all first met Miya at a Jehovah’s Witness convention. It was then that Chrissy and Miya became friends. Miya and I didn’t start dating until she was an adult. We fell in love and got engaged in March of 2019. My dad Michael loves her, and the people I am closest to all love her as well. Most importantly we have Jehovahs blessing ?.”
