After a two-month long coma, popular 80s R&B singer Al B. Sure! is now talking about the health scare he endured for many months. He recently recounted his terrifying ordeal and revealed he's the recipient of a new liver in an interview with Christal Young of FOX New York.

The 54-year-old singer and radio host, whose real name is Albert Joseph Brown III, began struggling with his health in July of this year when he collapsed while working on music. He suffered from multiple illnesses including renal failure before falling into a coma for more than two months. At one point, doctors considered putting him in hospice.

"I was intubated, I was on a ventilator, had a tracheotomy. I mean, there were so many things going on, to the point where they were considering sending me to hospice," he told Young during his first interview since his health scare. "What people don't truly understand, unless you've been through this type of medical journey, is taking for granted breathing, tying your shoes, speaking."

As Al continues to recover, he explained the scar he bares from his health struggles. "I have what's called a Chevron, and that's when they cut your chest open. It's probably the first time I'm ever talking about it. I'm the recipient of an amazing, blessed liver," he said. "And I'm going to treat it well."

Now that he's beginning to regain his normal life back, he's preparing to work on some new music and write a book about his life. He also recently narrated a documentary about the life of Rev. Al Sharpton called "Loudmouth."

The singer-songwriter recalled his scary ordeal in a few Instagram posts in early November. "This unforeseen medical roller coaster has been a complete life changing experience and I truly value everyday functionality like Walking, Talking and Breathing on your my own with no assistance from a medical professional or machines. Take none of the forementioned for granted," he began a caption of video showing his journey.

"Here’s an abbreviated version of events ••• In early to mid July I was in a meeting over lunch, wrapped up and proceeded back to the studio to continue working on my upcoming project. As I sat in front of the computer I began to lose feeling on the entire left side of my body and fell over to the side. Fortunately my phone was within reach and I was able to call for assistance," the caption continued.

Many of Al's friends, family and fans dropped into the comment sections of his posts explaining his health journey and all he's been through to send well wishes, love and support. His son Quincy wrote, "Chicken is good… GOD IS THE GREATEST. I LOVE YOU ???" Rapper Big Daddy Kane said, "?? Prayers on a safe recovery Beloved." Actor Bill Bellamy wrote, "My brother …. God is real!! The power of Prayer and Favor is enormous……We love you!! You are our brother!! ?????????" and actress Halle Berry added, "God Bless You Al. Stay strong ❤️"
