Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss rose to fame after coming in second place on “So You Think Can Dance.” He then went on to work on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”, where he quickly became a fan-favorite.
Unfortunately, the 40-year-old took his own life earlier this week after he suddenly left the house without notice and checked into a motel Monday night.
Many stars and celebrities have taken to social media to pay respects to the beloved dancer, including Ellen DeGeneres herself. Now, producer of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" Andy Lassner is speaking out.
Andy Lassner On 'tWitch': "He Was Everyone's Friend"
Andy Lassner shared a beautiful photo of 'tWitch' to Instagram, along with a heartfelt message.
"So many people on social media are posting pictures of themselves with Twitch," he began to write. "Talking about their close friendships with him. Talking about the texts they exchanged with him just last week. Talking about the conversation they once had with him. The thing is - it’s all true. It’s all real."
He continued to talk about the dancer's legacy, expressing how selfless and kind he was to everyone. "Those who knew him are not trying to make this tragedy about themselves. They are just trying to convey to you who Twitch was. He made everything about you. He made you feel like the most important person in the world. And he did this for everybody. Not just the people he needed or that were “important”. He did it for everybody," Lassner continued. "He was everyone’s friend."

"He was our flame. Our joy. Our dancer," the producer expressed before speaking out on mental health and how much 'tWitch' was struggling without anyone even knowing. "There was a heavy burden that none of us realized he was carrying. He must have been so tired. But we didn’t know because he never wanted it to be about him. Ever."
Lassner proceeded to ask the world to stop wondering why and how and, instead, be "grateful for the gift he gave us by allowing us to take light from his flame."
Ellen DeGeneres: “I’m Heartbroken"
In 2014, Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss joined “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” as a guest DJ, but the show quickly gave him a permanent role after he captivated the audience and the other stars. He was promoted to co-executive producer status in 2020.
The host of the show, Ellen DeGeneres, released a statement after learning of her co-star’s death earlier this week.
“I’m heartbroken,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “tWitch was pure love and light. He was my family, and I loved him with all my heart. I will miss him. Please send your love and support to Allison and his beautiful children – Weslie, Maddox, and Zaia.
'tWitch' Leaves Suicide Note
Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss checked into a motel on Monday morning. He took an Uber to the motel, which was located less than one mile from his home in L.A., and turned his phone to airplane mode so that no one could reach or locate him.
Hotel staffers claim the beloved DJ and dancer did not appear to be in any sort of distress and was not visibly upset when he checked in. The 40-year-old star had one small bag with him and had booked the room for one night.
On Tuesday, ‘tWitch’ missed checkout, and that is when hotel staffers went to check on him and found him dead in his hotel room. Law enforcement responded to a 9-1-1 call early Tuesday morning, right before the news broke.
Police officers have since released additional details, including those of a suicide note left by 'tWitch' in the motel room. Though specific details of the note have not been released, law enforcement said the note mentioned “past challenges,” though it is unclear exactly what he was referring to.
