When it comes to making money, the caramel-toned singer does it better than dropping hit tracks. Like most entertainers, Blige became the success she is today by venturing into various fields.

One of her most lucrative ideas is her production company, Blue Butterfly. The "Family Affair" songstress would rack in big bucks after joining forces with BET to create new projects.

As part of their deal, the entertainment company would have a first look at Blue Butterfly Production's non-scripted projects and a second look at their scripted programs. Surprisingly, the Hip-hop icon already has a TV show in development.

The project being produced under the first-look agreement is an unscripted talk show called "The Wine Down." The project will be hosted by the Soul Train Award winner, with some of the biggest names in the industry as her guests.

Unlike typical talk shows, this unscripted program will bring influential people from various fields, including entertainment and politics. These individuals will join Blige for "raw, provocative, insightful, and real conversations" over a bottle of wine.

Although the show's guests are yet to be announced, Deadline reports that the liquor for the talk show may come from the "Be Without You" artist's brand. The New Yorker owns a wine label named "Sun Goddess," which she launched in 2020 with the Italian winemaker Marco Fantinel.

Additionally, the Grammy winner served as "The Wine Down" show's executive producer alongside her partners Ashaunna Ayars, Nicole Jackson, Lisa Erspalmer, and Davis Entertainment reps John and Jordan Davis.

Naturally, scoring a big deal with the entertainment giant meant a great deal to the "Mr. Wrong" songstress. However, the multi-hyphenate star was happier about deepening her relationship with BET.

"BET has been one of my biggest supporters throughout my career," Blige confessed in a statement. "Being able to now create together, for them to be so supportive of my vision for the type of content I will create, is something I am grateful and excited for."

The 12-time NAACP Image Award winner revealed that she had numerous projects in the works and proudly noted that more would come. The "Body Cam" actress founded her production company in 2019, using it to create diverse stories about her music and other narratives.

The singer's Blue Butterfly company recently executively produced the documentary "Mary J. Blige's My Life" with Amazon Studios. Earlier this year, they launched the "Strength of a Woman Festival and Summit," which was a sold-out event.

These fantastic achievements, alongside her BET collaborations, are just the tip of what has been a tremendous year for the Academy Award nominee. The "I Can Love You" singer received 6 Grammy nominations, including for the Album and Record of the Year categories.

At this year's Super Bowl, the brown-skinned goddess co-headlined the game's half-time show with fellow Hip-hop icons Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Kendrick Lamar. In February, the 51-year-old released her 15th studio album, Good Morning Gorgeous, and recently concluded the album's promotional tour.

All in all, the Critics' Choice Award honoree has experienced an eventful year. Given the milestones she achieved in 2022, one can only wonder what the record-breaker would do in 2023.

The Queen of R&B Received This Year's Billboard Icon Award

Earlier this year, The Blast shared that Blige continues to make headlines as one of the greatest female entertainers. The living legend, who began her career in the 90s, received a prestigious award for her achievements.

At this year's Billboard Music Awards show, the "Real Love" artist scored the Billboard Icon Award, marking Blige's eleventh Billboard award. Following the announcement, the 51-year-old released a heartfelt statement expressing her gratitude and delight over the honor.
