One of Al Roker's wishes has been granted this Christmas season, and he is more than grateful for it following his one-month-long hospitalization.
Al was recently treated for blood clots in his lungs, and following the successful surgery, he is back at home, hale and hearty enough to participate in his family's festive tradition – decorating a Christmas tree.
Al Roker & Family Decorate Christmas Tree In Sweet Instagram Photos
The oldtimer has expressed his thanks now and again for being with his family this holiday season, but most recently, he felt blessed to be able to hang up decorations with them. Taking to Instagram, he made an appreciation post featuring his wife, fellow journalist Deborah Roberts, 62, their daughter, Leila Roker, 24, and son, Nicholas Albert Roker, 20.
They could all be seen holding up an adornment on each slide, beginning with Leila, who beamed while posing on a ladder close to the tree. Some of the slides featured the family together, as seen in the last one, where they had huge smiles as they held on to each other, including their cute little pup for a capture.
Looking well-decorated with bright lights and shiny trinkets, the Christmas tree was certainly eye-catching and nearly reached the room's ceiling. Al, who appeared in good physical shape in the slides, wrote in the caption, "So thankful to be well enough to decorate the Roker Family #christmastree."
The post gained over 43k likes in less than ten hours, with more than a thousand commenters loving up on the family's adorableness and several expressing joy in seeing the weather presenter looking fit.
"Love it and so happy to see you all together," a fan penned, and another exclaimed. "Great to see you up and about. Enjoy the holidays and your family. Continued good health to you!"
One avid supporter was elated for Al and his family as they wrote so, adding some red heart emojis and "your health is your wealth." Feeling grateful like the 68-year-old in the heart-lifting development, a follower could not help but celebrate him and his "beautiful family" with love emojis.
At the same time, another user expressed, "This made my night! Seeing you all together warms my heart – One day at a time with Al's health journey back! Slow and steady wins the race."
The reputable journalist is evidently working on his health step by step by trying to regain his strength through daily physical and occupational therapy.
He mentioned so during a December interview on the "Today" show, noting that he felt like "a very fortunate person." Al also dished on his experience amid and following his hospitalization, confessing that it felt great to be surrounded by family at home.
Getting treatment in the hospital was admittedly a difficult period for him that made him highly grateful for "this outpouring of prayers and thanks." Meanwhile, feeling "very fortunate," he explained:
"You lose a certain amount of muscle mass every week you're in the hospital. I was in the hospital for four weeks. So you know it's just a certain amount of weakness. I'm doing physical therapy every day, occupational therapy. I've got to just get my strength back."
Crediting the New York Presbyterian Hospital staffers, he sent them a shout-out and ensured to voice his gratitude to his "Today" family more than once for their love and support.
The Weather Man Leaves Hospital In Time For Thanksgiving Day
Al was discharged from the hospital soon enough for Thanksgiving; naturally, he was over the moon. The Blast reported that he was filmed exiting the hospital in dark pants, a green-themed shirt, and a black cap while voicing out a "wahoooo" as seen on his Instagram feed.
The "Today" weather anchor, who was all set for his triumphant stroll, told viewers in the video that that was his version of "the Thanksgiving Day parade" as he prepared to walk out of the hospital. The caption read:
"So much to be #thankful for on the #thanksgiving day. Leaving the hospital and home for #thanksgivingdinner."
Al's supporters could not be happier for him as they flooded the comments section with wholehearted joyfulness as he was back home in time for the festive dinner and to catch a glimpse of Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.
