Per Daily Mail, the couple was recently spotted for the first time since their infamous "on-air" suspension, walking conjointly in New York.
They seemed not to be bothered by onlookers and detractors as they enjoyed each other's company over lunch at a Manhattan restaurant. The pair first hinted at their secret affair as they laughed off the rumors on air in the early days of December but were eventually suspended from on-air duties.
Amy Robach And T.J. Holmes Were Suspended From 'GMA3'
The couple went incognito after being suspended "indefinitely" by ABC following photo and video evidence released by Daily Mail, suggesting that they were in a secret relationship.
ABC News president, Kim Godwin, issued an office communique to address the issue in what was described passively as the "ongoing matter involving GMA 3 anchors T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach."
As per reports, she said, "I understand that the continuing coverage can be distracting from the incredibly important work our team does here at ABC News." She added that "Amy and T.J. will remain off-air pending the completion of an internal review, and there will be a rotation of anchors at 'GMA3' for the time being."
The suspension follows a storm of unfavorable remarks from viewers who criticized the network for its apathetic response to the co-anchors reported romance.
T.J. Holmes And Amy Robach Tried To Make Light Of The Scandal
In a bid to save face and to put a pause to speculations about their romance, the pair had tried to deny the existence of such an affair in the first place.
As per the Daily Mail, the newsmen claimed to be "openly dating" and hinted at "growing their relationship." Holmes, in particular, "adamantly denied" the rumors were true in an attempt to save his career.
In the wake of the news of their romance, Robach has since moved out from her New York City residence where she lived with her estranged husband.
She is married to "Melrose Place" actor Andrew Shue, while Holmes is married to lawyer Marilee Fiebig. The pair are separated from their spouses, with Robachs divorce yet to be finalized.
ABC Is Yet To Make A Decision Regarding The Lovebirds
Following the suspension of the news anchors, ABC Network was reported to be conducting an "internal review" to decide the fate of the couple.
Different factors play a huge role in the review as regards making a final decision. There have been reports of ABC's top guns having to deal with issues of "optics" and possible "racial discrimination" allegations with just a misstep.
A source (via Daily Mail) said, "But how can they let him go and keep Amy? They love her and they don't want to lose her. But imagine the possible backlash if they go down that path." Further adding, "letting the black man go and keeping the white woman? It looks like the worst sort of double standard and would leave them wide open to allegations of racism."
The news outlet also quoted another source hinting that network executives may be finding it hard to "take a hard line for the precedent it would set."
"'If Amy and T.J. are punished for their affair they'll have to bring a prison bus to the studios to ship out all of the other couples who're at it at ABC!"
