Taylor Swift‘s surprise new album is coming tonight at midnight, and fans are devouring every bit of information they can about the music before the album drops.
That includes staking out the names of Swift’s collaborators on the upcoming songs on_Folklore_, an album she put together over the last few months while in quarantine.
Besides working with Aaron Dessner of The National, Bon Iver, and Jack Antonoff, Swift says she
also collaborated with someone called “William Bowery.” But people are having a tough time digging up information on this person.
Swifties are making the assumption that “William Bowery” is her boyfriend, British actor Joe Alwyn, who she’s been dating since 2016. This supposed fake name could be a pseudonym, according to Hollywood Life.
Part of her message on Instagram about Folklore includes: “I wrote and recorded this music in isolation but got to collaborate with some musical heroes of mine … William Bowery (who co-wrote two with me).”
The name “William Bowery” could have a couple of meanings, according to devotees. Joe Alwyn’s grandfather, William Alwyn, was a music teacher, a conductor and a composer.
And the “Bowery” section of the name could have something to do with one of the first interactions Swift had with Alwyn. After Swift went to a Kings Of Leon concert on Oct. 12, 2016, she went to a party at the Bowery hotel.
Swift’s friends like Lily Donaldson, Dakota Johnson, Lorde, Zoe Kravitz, Suki Waterhouse, and Cara Delevingne, and Martha Hunt were all there, but so was Alwyn.
It’s likely that many others are also making that assumption.

Swift fans have been eagle-eyed to these Easter eggs before. She co-wrote Calvin Harris’ big hit “This Is What You Came For” back in 2016, but she went under the pseudonym Nils Sjoberg.
Another mystery revolved around the cover version of “Look What You Made Me Do” that can be heard on the show “Killing Eve.” On May 24, Swift wrote “VERY STOKED about this cover of lwymmd on @KillingEve by Jack leopards & the dolphin club!!”
But Jack Leopards & the Dolphin Club only has this one song to their name, and the song was produced by one Nils Sjoberg.
Will the real “William Bowery” please stand up?
