Tyler Perry Reveals How Dark Times Made Him Attempt Suicide
Taking to Instagram from what appeared to be his residence, Perry reacted to the death of tWitch, saying he was deeply shocked that the celebrity DJ took his life.
Admitting that he had only met tWitch a couple of times, Perry said that on those occasions, the father of three appeared to be "full of life," which made it difficult to comprehend that he was going through a lot of emotional turmoil that ultimately led to his death.
Perry then opened up about a time when he was on the brink of ending his life in the hopes that it would inspire those who were going through "hard times" and "struggling."
The multihyphenate said, per People, "I just want to take you back to a time in my life when I tried to commit suicide, a couple of times, because it was so dark I didn't think it would get any better. I had endured so much pain, so much abuse, sexual abuse, it was all so hard to just move through that I thought the only way to make this better was to end my life."

Explaining further, Perry stated that if he had followed through with those attempts, he would have missed out on achieving the great heights he has attained.
"Had any of those attempts happened, I would've missed the best part of my life," the Madea creator said, admitting that he was glad that he aborted those plans.
Perry then asked his listeners to reach out to someone if they were going through a difficult time, adding that he would be posting a number anyone could use to request professional help.
He added, "I know it may seem like there's no hope, but please reach out to someone ... call, ask for help if you are dealing with anything that is emotionally taking you to a place where you think you want to end your life."
Tyler Perry Shares A Lesson About His Experience
Reflecting on those dark moments, Perry poured out his thoughts about what he gleaned from his experience. He asserted that although it might not seem the same to others, sometimes "pain" is actually a "buy-in" and that this is just how he had to learn to view it to get through it.
He remarked, "If I had given up, if I had stopped, I wouldn't have seen the better part of my life. I was buying into something…it was the way I was able to rationalize it, to be able to move through the pain, knowing that if I could just get through this moment, there's got to be something better."
Perry then revealed that those dark days were long gone and that he was living a happy life "full of joy and love." He then urged others never to give up, adding that he is "a living witness" that things could get better.
