Halsey is speaking out in support of Kanye West following his breakdown on Twitter where he targeted his mother-in-law Kris Jenner and said his wife Kim Kardashian tried to fly a doctor to Wyoming to “lock him up.” The 43-year-old rapper went off on the social media site in a series of scathing tweets accusing Kris Jenner of releasing Kim Kardashian’s sex tape with Ray J and pushing her daughter to pose nude for Playboy. He also said “Kriss” was no longer allowed near his four children.
Besides airing out his family’s dirty laundry, Kanye West told his followers his life was like the thriller “Get Out” and that everyone knows that movie “is about me.” While many showed concern over what appeared to be Kanye West having a mental breakdown in front of the world, others took the opportunity to poke fun at the star amid crisis and Halsey isn’t having it.
The 25-year-old singer, who suffers from bipolar disorder, took to Twitter and defended Kanye West, telling her fans, “I’m so disturbed by what I’m seeing.”

No jokes right now. I have dedicated my career to offering education and insight about bipolar disorder and I’m so disturbed by what I’m seeing. Personal opinions about someone aside, a manic episode isnt a joke. If you can’t offer understanding or sympathy, offer your silence.

Going on her own Twitter tirade, the “Nightmare” songstress slammed those who are laughing at Kanye West’s breakdown. “No jokes right now,” Halsey tweeted on Monday, July 20. “Personal opinions about someone aside, a manic episode isnt a joke. If you can’t offer understanding or sympathy, offer your silence.”
Shunning those who are spewing out hate, Halsey continued, “Taking this opportunity to make offensive remarks and vilify [sic] people with mental illnesses is really not the way to go…this is the exact triggering shit that causes people to keep quiet about it.”

A lot of people you know probably have bipolar disorder and you aren’t aware of it. Taking this opportunity to make offensive remarks and villify people with mental illnesses is really not the way to go…this is the exact triggering shit that causes people to keep quiet about it

Saying regardless of what you think about Kanye West or his politics, the singer stated this isn’t the time to take jabs at him. “If you wanna think someone is an asshole, go ahead. Lots of people with mental illnesses are great. Lots of them are assholes,” she wrote. “Because they are people. With nuanced personalities. But making jokes specifically targeted towards bipolar hurts more than the 1 person ur angry with.”
Halsey first opened up about being diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2015.
