Mayim Bialik is best known for her iconic role as Amy Farrah Fowler in the series, “Big Bang Theory.” However, she has featured in other amazing movies, one of which was “Beaches” where she played the role of Bette Midler.

In 1993, she graduated from North Hollywood High School, situated in California. She decided to proceed to college and due to her acting capabilities, University of California, (UCLA), granted her an admission.
According to Bialik, she decided to go to college in the same city where her parents lived because she always wanted to be close to home. It was either this or she moved all the way to the East Coast.
She bagged a degree in neuroscience from the University, with Hebrew and Jewish language as her minors.

After that, she continued to explore the acting world, as well as focus on her core courses in school. Bialik found a way to go to school and earn her degree, including a PhD in neuroscience. But she always loved acting and she loves it till this day.

Some people may likely ask; why did she not drop one for the other, or study acting in school if she really loved it?
Others might ask; why did she not quit school and focus on her acting career instead?
Well, for the first question, Bialik was likely able to handle both professions and she did not see the need to choose. However, the second question poses a different challenge. According to the actress, she always told herself that she would finish college no matter what it cost.

Her grandparents believed in education and wanted that for all their children. Her acting career was already in its way to stardom, so why did she not back out? Read what the actress had to say in a recent interview.
“I also wanted to be appreciated for what was in my head and not just what I could offer. People get so much from us when we’re talented and do things and our put ourselves out there, but there’s a person in here. So I really wanted to develop that part of me and fell in love with science and wanted to pursue science so that’s what I did. I left the industry for 12 years.” Bialik said.
