The long-anticipated moment of Tory Lanez's assault case involving fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion has finally happened. As you might know, Lanez was accused of shooting Megan in October 2020, and the duo has been going head-to-head in court about who is telling the truth.
On Monday, December 12, the trial for Lanez's case began, and for day 2 of the ongoing trial, the "Hot Girl Summer" turned up in court to give her testimony and tell her side of the story, and it was no doubt an emotional one.
Megan Thee Stallion Testifies Against Tory Lanez
Megan arrived in court looking her best in a fitted purple trouser suit paired with red pumps and a simple bob hairstyle. As expected, the iconic rapper had her fair share of support and vitriol outside the court, with one bystander yelling at her, "Megan, Why you lying on that boy?"
Nevertheless, the Texas Southern University alum remained unfazed as she declared she wasn't nervous when asked how she felt about the trial. She also had a bunch of fans holding a banner that read, "We Stand With Megan."
By 12:50 PM Pacific Time, the "WAP" crooner took the stand and have a heart-wrenching testimony between tears. Megan recalled what had happened to her, claiming that her pal Kelsey Harris and Lanez began fighting in the car, causing her to get out.
She then heard Lanez say to her, "Dance bitch" after which he pointed a gun at her. Megan claimed that she began going into shock the moment she saw the "Say It" rapper with the gun. She ascertained that it wasn't her friend, Kelsey Harris, who she saw with a gun — a claim Lanez's attorney reportedly plans to use to fight the trial.
Megan, who has been subject to intense vitriol as a result of the case, addressed the backlash she has suffered while on the stand. "I can't believe I have to come up here and do this," she said emotionally. The Grammy Award winner continued, "Because I was shot, I've been turned into some kind of villain, and he's the victim. This has messed up my whole life."
The 27-year-old hitmaker revealed that Lanez tried to bribe her because of his fragile status as he was on probation. He reportedly said to her, "Don't say anything and I'll give you a million dollars," reminding her that he was on probation. She recalled feeling weird that he was more concerned about going to jail than the fact that he actually shot her.
Megan Wishes Lanez Killed Her!
Megan's testimony soon took an emotional turn as she spoke about the negative effect telling her truth about the shooting has had on her career and her personal life. The "She-Hulk" star lamented how she was being torn apart by the media with so much focus on her sex life, resulting in slut-shaming.
A teary-eyed Megan revealed that some fan had been "shaming me for being a grown woman having sex," before stating, "I don't understand why that matters." She noted that speaking up about the ordeal put a target on her back and made her the butt of the joke in a misogynistic industry like rap.
Megan shared that Lanez has only benefited from the shooting while she has been subjected to criticism of every kind. "There's not a day goes by that people don't call me a liar." She also addressed powerful men in the rap industry who have taken Lanez's side, painting him as the victim while subjecting her to misogynoir and slut-shaming.
