Sasha Banks and Bayley are considered two of the best female wrestlers currently in WWE.

The ladies are receiving a huge push at the moment. A few weeks ago, they won the women's tag titles making them two-time champions. Plus, Bayley is currently the Smackdown Women's Champion, a title she's held since October 2019.

Even though they're heels, fans still love Sasha and Bayley. Whether they're on Smackdown, RAW, or NXT; viewers tune in for them.

While many expect the pair to break up soon with Sasha turning face and challenging Bayley for the women's championship, WWE may have a different plan in mind.

Trish Stratus and Lita are two pioneers of women's wrestling.

They were the top stars of the women's division during WWE's Attitude Era.

Trish is a seven-time Women's Champion, and Lita is a four-time champ.

Their friendship/rivalry was one of the biggest stories from 2000 to 2006. They made history in December 2004 when they became the first women to compete in the main event of RAW.

Trish and Lita's accomplishments haven't gone unnoticed. Many of today's female wrestlers credit Trish and Lita for inspiring them to break into the industry.

Even though Trish and Lita are retired, they've been known to come back for guest appearances and a match or two.

It's ever wrestler's dream to work with their idols.

In October 2018, WWE held their first-ever women's only PPV called Evolution, which saw the current crop of female wrestlers compete with legends from the past.

While Sasha and Bayley didn't interact with Trish and Lita that night, the following evening on RAW the four ladies teamed with Natalya to take on The Riott Squad, Mickie James, and Alicia Fox.

Sasha and Bayley looked happy as they shared the ring with their idols, and later the ladies posed for photos backstage.

Fans loved seeing all the ladies together and hoped one day they'd see Sasha, Bayley, Trish, and Lita back in the ring again.

WWE has been toying with the idea of a Sasha and Bayley versus Trish and Lita feud for a while.

Rumors suggested that the ladies were supposed to face off at WrestleMania 35 with Trish and Lita challenging Sasha and Bayley for the women's tag titles.

However, the plans got scrapped and the match was rewritten to have The IIconics, Nia Jax and Tamina, and Natalya and Beth Phoenix as the challengers. At the end of the match, The IIconics won the titles from Bayley and Sasha.

Fans were upset that they didn't get to see Sasha and Bayley face off against Trish and Lita.

But they may be getting their match soon. Yesterday, Bayley sent out a tweet calling out the wrestling icons for a possible match at SummerSlam.

There's no doubt that fans would love to see Bayley and Sasha fight Trish and Lita. Even the ladies have talked about wanting a match against each other.

SummerSlam is one of WWE's biggest PPVs and it's set to take place next month. Bayley and Sasha are going to need a big match for the show, and what's bigger than facing off against two wrestling icons.

While fans are getting hyped up over the possibility of the dream match, they know not to set their expectations too high.

WWE has been known to take the opposite route in giving fans what they want. Odds are they may not even bring Trish and Lita back for the PPV, and instead have Bayley and Sasha face someone else currently on the roster.

However, with the women's roster running low on star power, WWE could bring Trish and Lita back to garner attention to their product.
