Mariah Carey Drops Cryptic Message Amid Nick Cannon Firing Over Anti-Semitic Comments

Mariah Carey may be taking an opportunity to throw some shade during the hot summer days, and dropped an interestingly-timed message just hours after her ex-husband, Nick Cannon, was publicly terminated for promoting anti-Semitic ideas during his podcast. The "We Belong Together" diva took to social media Tuesday night just as ViacomCBS announced they had severed ties with Cannon, who Carey was married to and has two children with.

"ViacomCBS condemns bigotry of any kind and we categorically denounce all forms of anti-Semitism," a statement from the company read in regards to a highly-controversial episode of the star's podcast, "Cannon's Class."

As Nick Cannon trended worldwide with the news of his ousting, Carey posted a humorous photo of one of her fur babies with an interesting message:

"It's a ruff summer," Carey captioned the photo of her dog wearing swim goggles. The post seemed innocent enough, but is it possible the diva was poking a little fun at her baby daddy over the blunder?

The singer followed up by later posting a photo of herself with 9-year-old daughter, Monroe Cannon, 1/2 of the twins she shares with the former "Wild 'n Out" star.

Nick Cannon has been trending on Twitter since the comments he made against the Jewish people went public on his "Cannon's Class" podcast during an interview with former Public Enemy member, Richard "Professor Griff" Griffin, who was let go from the band after anti-Semitic comments he made back in 1989.

During the recent podcast, Cannon agreed with and promoted dangerous anti-Semitic tropes and conspiracy theories about the Jewish people controlling the media and "bloodlines" that have far-reaching control around the world.

Cannon later tried to clarify his comments and said he had no "malice" during the podcast.

"The Black and Jewish communities have both faced enormous hatred, oppression persecution and prejudice for thousands of years and in many ways have and will continue to work together to overcome these obstacles," he said ina statement.

In the wake of his firing, Nick Cannon released a long statement about his disappointment in ViacomCBS and stated that he has some demands about his termination.

"I demand full ownership of my billion dollar “Wild ‘N Out” brand that I created, and they will continue to misuse and destroy without my leadership! I demand that the hate and back door bullying cease and while we are at it, now that the truth is out, I demand the Apology!" Cannon wrote in a strongly-worded Facebook post.
