“Big Brother 21” houseguests Jackson Michie and Holly Allen announced the end of their relationship nearly one year after they began dating. The couple met while filming the reality game show and turned their showmance into a real relationship.
Allen sat down with Alyssa Amoroso, a former publicist and podcaster, to discuss the couple’s breakup and Allen’s future. While Allen and Michie were initially quiet and vague about the reasons behind the breakup, the more recent interview was candid and real.
On The Publyssity Podcast, the 32-year-old wine safari tour guide dished about the end of her relationship, something she did not see coming. Allen and Michie, 25, lived together for about six months following his win on the show.
Allen mentions one major reason for their split: too much time together. They had a difficult time with the transition back to reality after leaving the competitive reality show, especially because Michie was received poorly by the public for making offensive comments.
The former houseguest also mentioned the age difference becoming a significant issue. They had different priorities.

Allen claims that she wanted the split to be quiet so that they could focus on moving forward and figuring things out, but Michie wanted to make an immediate announcement. Allen was uncomfortable with the announcement, especially because she was suddenly losing her boyfriend, her dog, and her apartment.
The breakup left Allen searching for a new place to live in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. Allen claims that her asthma puts her at higher risk, but she now has to couchsurf.

Meanwhile, Michie has been posting “thirst traps” on social media and apparently partying with Brett Robinson of “Big Brother 20.”
Still, Allen claims that she loves her ex and does not want to speak poorly of him to the public. She mentions that Robinson and Michie have women staying at the apartment she shared with her ex, which makes it hard for her to retrieve her belongings.
In Michie’s breakup announcement, he mentioned that Allen had been a constant in his life through ups and downs. He claimed the breakup was not because of “bad actions or words” but rather recognition that “a relationship may not be for the best.”

On her own Instagram page, Allen wrote that she is starting “another adventure.” The post continues, “Growth sometimes happens alone. And that’s what I’ll be doing.” She mentioned that she is hurting but ultimately appears optimistic about the future. The podcast made it clear that she is looking to move on.
Allen briefly dated "The Bachlorette" contestant Luke Pell before she entered the "Big Brother" house. Allen has also recently been seen out with Blake Horstmann of "The Bachelorette," but their relationship has been described as platonic.
