She's got the beat!

Former Go-Go's frontwoman Belinda Carlisle may be known for the infectious pop hits she released as a member of the '80s girl group and as a solo star. As a member of The Go-Go's, Carlisle contributed lead vocals to the band's hit songs "We Got The Beat" and "Our Lips Are Sealed," and would go on to achieve massive success after embarking on her own! Carlisle would go on to release the memorable '80s pop hits "Heaven Is A Place On Earth" and "Mad About You," (featured on the soundtrack to "13 Going On 30") after the band split in the mid-Eighties.

Carlisle, 64, is about to add to her pop repertoire once again!

"This was kind of an accident because I never ever thought that I wanted to do anything like this," she told American Songwriter following the August launch of "Mad About Music With Belinda Carlisle." "I've recorded nine shows so far and it seems like a lot of my choices are songs that really influenced me from the late '70s, like Roxy Music and early [David] Bowie. Music has been my life since I was 17, so it sort of tells a story, and I share some of my own," Carlisle added.

The last two years have been notable in the story of Carlisle's music: The Go-G0's would release new music, be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's class of 2021, and the band would go on tour.

The band's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is an accolade that Carlisle considers to be extremely important to The Go-Go's legacy. She continued to American Songwriter, "The Go-Go's are definitely winding down now, and I think that has definitely cemented the legacy of the band. We all have our lives going on and different things, so I don't know if we'll ever really do anything again, but if it ended there, that's amazing. There's something to be said about going out on top."

The Lid On Carlisle's Pop Career Will No Longer Be Sealed!

Carlisle is still on top of her solo career and is not slowing down anytime soon!

Between spinning her favorite classic glam rock tunes, Carlisle has found time to return to her musical roots. She is gearing up to release her first album of pop music in nearly three decades!

The former pop princess has been known to experiment and release some unique material; Carlisle released an album dedicated to Sikh chanting as well as an album recorded entirely in French! Her upcoming foray back into pop music could be considered a work of fate; she revealed to Retro Pop Magazine that her son's chance meeting with songwriting giant Diane Warren, served as a catalyst for her next project!

"It's so weird because I was going to retire. Just work occasionally and live a nice life," she says. "Then my son ran into [songwriter] Diane Warren in Starbucks, and she goes, 'What is your mom doing? He says 'I don't know,' and she goes 'Oh, then let's call her!' She has the foulest language in the business and she goes, 'B***h, what are you doing? I have some hits for you!"

Carlisle felt hesitant about her big venture but ultimately felt pulled to take the plunge!

"I was like, 'Do I really want to do this?' Because it's a big commitment when you do something like that. But I went to the studio and I don't even know what to say- It was so good. There are about three songs on the EP and they're incredible," Carlisle continued.
