Great American Family Star Neal Bledsoe Refuses To Work With Candace Cameron Bure

Neal Bledsoe is so disgusted by Candace Cameron Bure’s comments about traditional families that he quit working with the GAF network.

The actor starred in movies like The Winter Palace and Christmas at the Drive-In, two fan favorites for the channel isn’t interesting moving forward after Bure admitted she joined the channel for their Christian family beliefs.

“I hope GAF will change, but until everyone can be represented in their films with pride, my choice is clear. I look forward to working with creators who put no limits on the stories we tell and follow through on their message of values with open arms,” said the actor in an exclusive with Variety.

Bledsoe was appalled by Bure saying, that GAF would not feature same-sex couples Instead the focus is on “traditional marriage.”

“My life wouldn’t be where it is today without the love, support, and guidance of the LGBTQIA+ community. From my mentors in college to the myriad of agents and managers, writers and directors, teachers and colleagues, and, of course, my dear friends and family, who have all touched my life, I owe them a great debt,” he admits.

He went on to share that the community was there for him growing up as a young man and truly doesn’t know where he would be if people in that community hadn’t stepped up.

“If I cannot stand up for that community in their time of need, my debt to them means nothing. So, I want to be very clear: my support for the LGBTQIA+ community is unconditional – nothing is worth my silence or their ability to live and love freely in a world that we are lucky enough to share with them.”

While he maintains his own religious values he has never leveraged them to hold others down and this, to him, seems like what Bure is doing. He refuses to get behind it.

“Freedoms of speech or religion, or even the freedom to express beliefs that I might vehemently disagree with, are not the issue here. This is about someone in an executive position speaking about deliberate exclusion on behalf of an entire network.”

He also slammed Bure for her beat-around-the-bush choice of words. “This is why the phrase “traditional marriage” is as odious as it is baffling. Not simply wrong in its morality, it’s also a moot point, when you consider that most romantic movies don’t feature married couples at all, nor even weddings, but simply people meeting and falling in love.”

The actress has always prided herself on her Christian values but maybe this time she has gone too far. Fellow celebrities went out of their way to call out Bure for what she said and it wasn’t pretty.

Hilarie Burton called the actress a “bigot” and further reminded her that her savior doesn’t take too kindly to judgmental people. JoJo Siwa also called out Bure expressing in a video posted to social media that she has essentially had enough of her.

In a possible trickle-down effect, Bure’s brother, former actor Kirk Cameron was recently blocked from promoting his book at US public libraries. Most of the libraries turned him down and explained it was because they were using their spaces and time slots for “more diverse” speakers.
