Floyd Mayweather is asking the court to sanction his late ex-girlfriend Josie Harris as part of her $20 million-dollar lawsuit against him,

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the fighter is back in court trying to get Josie’s lawsuit against him dismissed.

Earlier this year, Josie was found dead from an accidental drug overdose. At the time of her death, Josie was in the middle of a $20 million legal battle with Floyd. The two were scheduled to start trial on December 7, 2020.

Josie originally filed the lawsuit in 2015. In the suit. Floyd’s ex accused the fighter of lying about a domestic violence incident in an infamous Katie Couric interview.

Floyd claimed during a 2010 altercation Josie was high on drugs and he had to be restrained. Josie called BS on his claims and said he violently assaulted her. Floyd was sentenced to two months behind bars over the alleged assault. Josie had shut down Floyd’s attempts to have the case dismissed several times and was set to face off with him later this year.

Due to her death, the lawsuit can only move forward if someone connected to Josie takes control of her estate and decides to continue on with the case. At the moment nobody has taken control of Josie’s estate and the case is in limbo.

In newly filed court documents, Floyd says the central issue of the case was whether Josie was on drugs. He claims she took street drugs but Josie always claimed they were prescribed. He claims to have sent over a list of questions he wanted an answer as part of the case. At the time of her death, Josie had yet to respond to Floyd’s questions.

Floyd states, “On or about 3/10/20 Plaintiff died; per the Coroner's office she overdosed on Fentanyl and Vicodin. Defendant has made diligent inquiries and checked court records to learn if Plaintiff had a will or trust, and whether a representative for Plaintiff’s estate has been appointed. So Far the defendant can determine the answers are no.”

Floyd argues since Josie never answered the questions the lawsuit cannot move forward to trial. The fighter decided it was the proper time to ask for sanctions against his dead ex. Floyd is requesting the court order Josie and her attorney to pay him $9,060 for failing to turn over the answers.

A judge has yet to rule.
