The former Grey’s Anatomy senior writer is happy to no longer have to keep up her lie about having a rare form of cancer because she couldn’t keep up with all the lies she was telling.

“When you get wrapped up in a lie you forget who you told — what you said to this person and whether this person knows that thing — and that’s the world where you can get caught,” she says. “I don’t have to worry about that now.”

Finch was exposed by Antler back in March after finding out that Disney was investigating the writer for the tales she spun about her cancer diagnosis and the trickle-down effect of the horrible disease.

Basically, nothing about Finch’s story was true. She never had any form of cancer and none of those side effects ever took place. In case you missed it, Finch claimed she had chondrosarcoma, a rare bone cancer.

Because of cancer, she claims to have lost a kidney, and a piece of her leg, and was forced into an abortion; all of these being an effect of the chemo and other treatments. If that wasn’t bad enough, the writer also claimed that her own brother physically abused her as a child.

This led Finch to enter a treatment facility for trauma where she met her wife whom she wed shortly after leaving the rehab. Her wife, Jennifer Beyer, was actually the one to expose the writer when she found out that her wife was lying about everything.

Elisabeth Is Finally Apologizing

The disgraced writer reaped a lot of benefits from pretending to have cancer and stealing potential jobs from people who actually deserve them. It would have been more impressive if she was truthful and those were just great ideas.

“I told a lie when I was 34 years old, and it was the biggest mistake of my life. It just got bigger and bigger and bigger and got buried deeper and deeper inside me,” she claims, now 44 a whole ten years later.

“I’ve never had any form of cancer,” she says out loud after being prompted by Antler to say her the truth out loud.

More lies, and truths rather, began to pour out of the pathological liar’s mouth. She claims she had a friend pass in the 2018 Tree of Life Synagogue attack… lie. She went there a couple of times while in college at Carnegie Mellon, that’s it.

She wasn’t allowed on site by the FBI to collect remains as per Jewish tradition, that’s a sick lie to spin. She also claimed her brother who abused her as s child conveniently committed suicide, he’s actually a doctor who lives in Florida.

“I know it’s absolutely wrong what I did,” she admits.

Elisabeth Finch Knows She ‘F****d Up’

“I lied and there’s no excuse for it. But there’s context for it. The best way I can explain it is when you experience a level of trauma a lot of people adopt a maladaptive coping mechanism,” she claims.

“Some people drink to hide or forget things. Drug addicts try to alter their reality. Some people cut. I lied. That was my coping and my way to feel safe and seen and heard.” She goes on to blame her dependency on lies on a knee replacement back in 2007.

“What ended up happening is that everyone was so amazing and so wonderful leading up to all the surgeries. They were so supportive,” she remembers.

“And then I got my knee replacement. It was one hell of a recovery period and then it was dead quiet because everyone naturally was like Yay! You’re healed, but it was dead quiet.” Finch wasn’t used to the silence.

“I had no support and went back to my old maladaptive coping mechanism — I lied and made something up because I needed support and attention and that’s the way I went after it. That’s where that lie started — in that silence.”

This is where the cancer story and subsequent lies began. It’s nice she is apologizing but she looped a lot of people into her lies and hurt them to get attention. But now we know it’s her “maladaptive coping mechanism.”
