Even in a pandemic, celebrities have to promote their new projects, and Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale is doing the (virtual) interview circuit promoting the band’s new album, The Kingdom. In a new interview/cooking segment with for Haute TV’s YouTube channel, on top of discussing the new album, Rossdale also shared a story about his middle son, Zuma, breaking both of his arms within six weeks. That is one clumsy kid!
When discussing the importance and blessing of good health, Rossdale explained that his 11-year-old “had an accident, and he broke his arm.”
According to Rossdale, the second break happened after Zuma had an accident on his bike. Not only did he break his arm, but he also got a gash on his leg that required five stitches after the gnarly fall. Zuma first broke his arm after falling off of a chair, but luckily that healed in the six weeks between breaks so he wasn’t completely immobilized.
Rossdale shares his three sons Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo with ex wife Gwen Stefani, and he and Stefani have been navigating co-parenting in a pandemic.
While the three boys spent the first couple of weeks of quarantine with their dad, they have spent the last few months out at Stefani’s ranch in Oklahoma. Rossdale told Trunk Nation in April:
“I did the first two weeks with them, then they went to Oklahoma. They’re on a 10,000 acre ranch. It’s okay for now and that is a real big dilemma for parents with split custody. You’re more mindful of like, I know who’s around me – no one. And I know who’s bringing me the corona – no one is.”
He continued, explaining that the pandemic is hard on divorced parents.
“But you send your kids out to someone else and they come back to you, and now you’re prone to whoever they’re with. It’s a tricky one for all divorced parents. I miss them and they should be back. I haven’t had them for ten days, 11 days and that’s a long time. Normally I have them every five days. At first it was like, cool, you can be super selfish, play that guitar more. But now, I’m like, I kind of prefer it when they’re around, actually.”
Still, Rossdale and Stefani seem to handle co-parenting better than many celebrity parents. Stefani’s boyfriend Blake Shelton is also extremely involved in the boys’ lives, so much so that Stefani shared a Father’s Day Instagram post dedicated to the country singer. She wrote:
“Happy father’s day @blakeshelton thank u for helping me raise these boys!! #weloveyou! G,K, Z, A gx [sic]”
“He is a good dad, actually. He’s been helping me out a lot, so I literally get to the point where I’m like, ‘You gotta get home, I need help.’ So it’s hard. I got three boys.”
