Anthony Rapp and his longtime partner Ken Ithiphol have officially become parents!
The couple's relationship has been on the steady rise since they began dating in 2016 after the leadership coach slid into the actor's DMs. Since then, they have experienced multiple ups and downs, eventually getting engaged in 2019. Now, the pair are celebrating the arrival of their first child together via a surrogate.
Here Is How To Pronounce Anthony Rapp & Ken Ithiphol's Baby's Name
Rapp shared the fantastic news of his baby boy's arrival on Instagram with an adorable pic of himself, Ithiphol, and their newborn. The swaddled tot had a smile on his face as he rested in the crook of Ithiphol's arms, with the "Dazed and Confused" star's arm around his partner's shoulder.
"Ken and I are thrilled to share that our family has grown! [Purple heart and star emojis]," the "Star Trek: Discovery" actor began beneath the snap. Disclosing the baby's name, Rapp continued:
"Our son, Rai Larson Ithiphol, was brought into the world on Friday, December 2, 2022, by an incredibly generous surrogate, to whom we are eternally grateful. (Rai is pronounced like "rye" or "chai.”) We love him very much."
Soon after the "Adventures in Babysitting" actor dropped the baby news, his comment section was flooded with congratulatory messages and wishes. While his "Star Trek" co-star Ethan Peck simply congratulated the new parents, his fellow "Rent" cast member Daphne Rubin-Vega chimed, "HALLELUJAH !! Welcome home, Rai!"
Former "Law & Order" star Camryn Manheim enthused, "Welcome, little one. I hope you can feel the sea of love that surrounds you. Cannot wait to smell you. [red heart emoji]." Celebrity drag queen Jackie Cox gushed that she could not wait to meet him.
Rapp and Ithiphol evoked a similar reaction when the former announced their engagement on Instagram in November 2019. Along with a picture of Ithiphol flaunting his ring, the "School Ties" star wrote:
"So something happened tonight. I asked @teerakeni if he would marry me and he said yes. I am so very happy and I'm so very thrilled to share this news."
Later in 2020, the 51-year-old provided another update with a photo of him and his partner staring lovingly at each other. He penned, "As you know, I'm marrying this wonderful, beautiful man. Thank you @colagrossico for taking such good care of us on our engagement shoot."
Even though the post did not indicate whether they walked down the aisle, fans were more than willing to congratulate them. One fan fawned in the comments, "Beautiful couple, beautiful people.
You are both so inspiring, and I am quite sure that you give strength and hope to many of us. At least, that's what you give to me." "So incredibly happy for you, Anthony. Wishing you a lifetime of love and happiness," another excited fan wrote. The post has garnered over 14k likes from fans and followers.
The Broadway Star Loses In Legal Battle Against Kevin Spacey
The civil legal drama that ensued between Rapp and fellow Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey finally came to an end last month. The Blast shared that the sexual battery case began in 2020 when the complainant sued the "House of Cards" actor for inviting him to a 1986 party at his New York home and making attempts to molest him.
The incident allegedly occurred when Rapp was a teenager and Spacey had become an adult. The $40 million suit ended on October 20 when members of a NY jury found the 63-year-old not guilty of the accusations and dismissed the case.
Spacey avoided conversing with the press following the verdict, leaving the courtroom with his bodyguards escorting him before he drove off in his SUV. As it turned out, his attorney Jennifer Keller had no problem expressing her gratitude to the press for the jury's verdict.
As for Rapp, he issued a statement on Twitter that partially read, "Bringing this lawsuit was always about shining a light, as part of the larger movement to stand up against all forms of sexual violence."
He then pledged to "keep on advocating for efforts to ensure that we can live and work in a world that is free from sexual violence of any kind." Rapp finished his statement by expressing his hope that survivors would continue to "tell their stories and fight for accountability."
