Last week, Savannah Chrisley revealed she decided to postpone her wedding with fiancé Nic Kerdiles.
“We both realized that things moved way too fast and we needed to go back to dating,” she said on her father’s podcast, “Chrisley Confessions.”
The couple, who started dating in 2017, was supposed to get married in May. And while fans assumed it was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, that clearly wasn’t the reason.
Chrisley even picked out a wedding planner and checked out venues, before making the decision to wait.
“I just knew we had to work on things on a different level,” the 22-year-old explained. “We had to dig deeper and it’s hard. It’s 2020 and you know what, it’s OK not to follow the guidelines and the whole timeframe that everyone follows.”
“When you get married, the good things in your relationship become great and the bad things in your relationship become worse. And I truly sat on that and I thought about it and there was just so much that Nic and I needed to work through,” Chrisley reflected.
“And there was a lot of pressure because we got engaged, it was public and everyone expected a wedding,” she added.
Kerdiles, 26, and Chrisley first “met” via Instagram. They got engaged a year later, on December 24, 2018.
Throughout their romance, there have been split rumors, which the couple denied.
In August 2019, Chrisley opened up about her and Kerdiles’ wedding plans to People, saying they weren’t in a rush.
“We’re taking our time when it comes to the wedding,” she told the outlet.
“Obviously, it’s an engagement for a reason. You can figure things out and work together, get to know each other better. So we’re taking our time,” she continued.
However, last October, the reality star said she and her fiancé were “taking a step back” in their relationship, but not breaking up.
A source told People at the time, “They’re still very much engaged, just taking time to enjoy their relationship” even though they decided to slow things down a little bit.
Naturally, after the duo’s wedding date came and went, there was a lot of speculation that she and Kerdiles split up.
“Nic and I are great!” Chrisley told People in June. “We continue to grow each and every day and for that I am blessed!”
Earlier this month, Chrisley shared several beach day photos where her fiancé was visibly seen, confirming the two are still an item. In one photo, she’s holding Kerdiles close.
“I tend to occasionally be funny…(you should’ve seen my original caption!) ? beach with my fav ?,” Chrisley captioned the cute photo.
