Chelsea Houska didn’t appear to have Instagram fully appreciating her weekend update. The “Teen Mom 2” star updated her account – followed by 5.7 million – yesterday with a summery group photo that included six others as she shouted out her favorite people. While comments saw fans gushing over eldest daughter Aubree, remarks over Chelsea appearing in a group with people clearly not living with her sparked backlash as the COVID-19 pandemic continues. The 28-year-old now sees users writing: “? Forget we’re in an epidemic Chelsea?”
Scroll for the photo that would, under any other circumstances, likely have gotten a universal thumbs-up. It showed the Lauribelles partner with the clothing brand’s boss Laurie Karlson, plus other adults and kids. Chelsea was on the right, seen in acid-wash and frayed denim shorts showing off her stunning, bronzed legs. The star’s 10-year-old daughter Aubree was next to her mom, with everyone smiling – Chelsea included, and doing so from behind circular shades as she also wore a cute, tie-dye tank.
A caption from Chelsea read: “I suuuuure love these people” as she added a kiss-face emoji. While 126,000+ likes, plus comments pointing out how cute Aubree looked proved positive, the most-liked comments now see the MTV face probed over not following CDC social distancing advice. The “forget we’re in an epidemic” comment clocked 120 likes. The remark did see users debate the “epidemic” word – COVID is a pandemic – but the sentiment was clear. “Social distancing ladies ?,” another unimpressed user wrote. More below.
A user responding to the “epidemic” response appeared to defend Chelsea, also mentioning the Black Lives Matter protests currently sweeping the U.S. “I mean, people are rioting with hundreds of people. this is nothing compared to that!” they wrote. As to BLM, Chelsea has had it served to her this month. The star was unfollowed in early June after a photo showing off her gold blazer was deemed tone-deaf as she appeared to rank her cute clothes above mentions of murdered black man George Floyd. “Disappointed and unfollowed,” a fan had written as Chelsea said nothing of Floyd – that same weekend, the star broke her silence, though.
Chelsea does not appear to have responded to the social distancing mentions – she’s also not the only celebrity to have been slammed over the matter, with 22-year-old reality star Savannah Chrisley facing similar as her bikini beach photos had fans screaming: “Social DISTANCING!” Chelsea followed her group photo up with a stunning couples one as she posed with 2016-married husband Cole DeBoer. “Baaaaabe. ?,” she wrote. The post received a reply from pregnant co-star Kailyn Lowry who wrote: “First of allllll ??? second off, this whole look you have on also ??.”
