Could This Be The 'Real' Reason Behind Kelly Clarkson & Brandon Blackstock's Split?

The very first winner of American Idol, Kelly Clarkson seemed madly in love with husband Brandon Blackstock, till early June where the couple shocked the world with news of their split. While the couple met in 2012 and got involved rather intensely, the marriage took place in 2013. Now, seven years later, Kelly Blackstock nee Carlson has filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences and asking for joint custody of the children. CNN reports there's already a prenup in place to make things less messy.

Kelly Clarkson was a struggling artist who impressed everyone with her voice and vocal range but could not land a record deal, until she came onto the very first season of American Idol, won it, and blew everyone away. Since then, Kelly Clarkson has been singing her heart out, but she gave away her heart to music producer Brandon Blackstock, whom she met in 2012. Blackstock is music royalty, considering he is the stepson of country singer and diva Reba McEntire.

To get married, Clarkson and Blackstock eloped and had their ceremony on a Tenessee farm. Clarkson stepped into the role of being step-mom to Blackstock's two children from a previous marriage and the couple went on to have two children on their own as well, daughter River Rose in 2014 and a son, Remington, born in 2016. The couple had been quarantining in what seemed to be familial bliss, that is until Clarkson filed for the divorce and gave her fans a shock.

Brandon Blackstock is Kelly's manager, Narvel Blackstock's son and while the two knew each other, he was married for most of the time. In 2012, at the Super Bowl, he was single and sparks began to fly between the two. Sadly, the spark now seem to have fizzled out, the world is not wiser as to what really went wrong between the two. However, in 2017, Clarkson had given an interview to Refinery29 magazine, in which she had called herself "asexual".

While what goes on behind closed doors is none of the world's business, Clarkson's old interview is giving rise to plenty of speculations. At the time, Clarkson had said, "This isn’t a downer to anybody I dated before him, but I’m just going to be real: I never felt like, honestly, sexually attracted to anybody before him, [Brandon]. I honestly thought I was asexual — I’d never been turned on like that in my whole life. I was like, ‘Oh that’s that feeling … okay!” While everyone waits for Clarkson to give more details, fans can watch her do a rendition of Etta James "I’d Rather Go Blind", which may have shades of her own heartbreak in it...
