Shakira Addresses Romance Rumors Involving Her Surf Instructor

Has Shakira found herself a new romantic interest?!

According to paparazzi photos she has!

Photos of Shakira and her surf instructor recently surfaced and sent the internet into a spiral. The instructor is 24-year-old Gorka Ezkurdia.

A photo of Shakira holding onto Gorka in a wet recently made the internet rounds.

This would mark Shakira’s first relationship since her summer breakup from longtime partner, Gerard Piqué.

Gorka has also been the surf instructor for the retired fútbol player and their two children.

However, the ‘Waka Waka’ singer has something to say about all of the noise.

"Out of respect for my children and the vulnerable moment they are going through, I ask the media to stop the speculation," she addressed the media. "I have no partner and nothing other than devoting myself entirely to my children and their welfare."

Piqué has moved on with a young employee from his Kosmos company. They got together soon after news of his and Shakira’s breakup swept across the media.

Shakira has remained very mum about the breakup and kept a low public profile since their breakup. She did open up a little bit about her romantic and legal situation on the September cover of Elle.

The country of Spain is after Shakira and her money, because they believe she skipped out on paying millions to the country.

If Shakira’s found guilty, she could face up to eight years behind bars.

It’s alleged that she skipped out on paying $14.7 million in taxes when she lived in Spain between 2012 to 2014. Shakira claims she did not live in Spain during this period of time.

During this time period, Shakira’s main residence was in the Bahamas, but prosecutors say she lived a majority of the time in Spain.

She was splitting her time between the Bahamas and Barcelona due to her former relationship with Piqué, and his career with FC Barcelona.

Shakira admitted to the publication that she has endured the “darkest hours” of her life amid the Spanish government’s accusations.

“I’ve paid everything they claimed I owed, even before they filed a lawsuit,” she told ELLE magazine. “So as of today, I owe zero to them. And finally, I was advised by one of the four biggest tax specialist firms in the world, PricewaterhouseCoopers, so I was confident that I was doing things correctly and transparently from day one.”

Shakira calls the Spanish government’s claims “false accusations,” and she plans to fight the case as a “matter of principle.”

“However, even without evidence to support these fictional claims, as they usually do, they’ve resorted to a salacious press campaign to try to sway people, and apply pressure in the media along with the threat of reputational damage in order to coerce settlement agreements,” she explained.

Shakira added that “Spanish tax authorities do this often” not just to celebrities but also to the “regular taxpayer.”

The Colombian-native also dove into her split from her partner of nearly 12 years.

“It’s hard to talk about it, especially because I’m still going through it, and because I’m in the public eye and because our separation is not like a regular separation,” she said. “And so it’s been tough not only for me, but also for my kids.”

Shakira and Piqué welcomed two sons, Milan (9) and Sasha (7), during their nearly 12-year relationship.
