On Wednesday, Kristen Doute, 37, stepped out in LA with her boyfriend, Alex Menache. The two walked hand in hand as they picked up takeout together.
The sighting comes days after Doute was dropped by her publisher, who also stopped promoting the reality star’s book, “He’s Making You Crazy” which hit shelves seven days before she, Stassi Schroeder, Max Boyens, and Brett Caprioni were fired from “Vanderpump Rules” for past racist remarks.
“Chicago Review Press prides itself on publishing books that promote social justice and equality. We are a company that strives to be aware, pay attention, and make a positive contribution to the world around us, but we also know that there is always room to do better and learn more; we are working on it,” the company said on Instagram.
The statement continued, “Therefore, we will no longer promote ‘He’s Making You Crazy,’ and we’ve canceled all remaining virtual or in-person events. Thank you for expressing your concerns.”
Doute’s representative told DailyMail.com, “Kristen fully understands the publisher’s position and is focused on doing the work she needs to do in order to make all this right and be a part of the solution.”
Doute’s book detailed her past relationships with Tom Sandoval, James Kennedy, and Brian Carter; all of who appeared on “Vanderpump Rules.”
“A lot of this book is very self-deprecating…It’s called ‘He’s Making You Crazy,’ but we’re not literally blaming men for everything that we do,” Doute told Us Weekly prior to the scandal. “We’re just saying … you need to take [ownership] in your actions that make women feel the way that you claim that we are.”
Earlier this month, Doute and Schroeder faced backlash for reporting their co-star, Faith Stowers, to the police in 2018, after Stowers brought the incident to light during an Instagram Live chat with “Floribama Shore” star Candace Rice.
Since then, Schroeder (who’s expecting her first child) and Doute have apologized for their actions publicly. However, according to Stowers, only Doute has reached out personally.
“After a lot of pressure from their supporters and Vanderpump supporters, they decided to DM me. And when I say they, I don’t mean Stassi. I mean Kristen Doute, and I believe her name is Jackie Schimmel, who runs ‘Bitch Bible’ podcast,” Stowers told Us Weekly.
“They reached out through DMs. But like I said, that was after people were just like, ‘No. You guys can’t do a statement. You guys gotta reach out personally,’ and that’s when they did,” she added.
Doute was first linked romantically to her boyfriend, Menache, in April of this year.
She confirmed the news in May saying, “[He is] someone that I had been friends with and it was kind of like a drunken night and I was like, ‘Hey, we’ve been friends and you’re hot. We should probably make out.’ And so we did and we just kind of started hanging out because we were both single.”
In the last few weeks, the two have been photographed together several times as they deal with the public backlash.
