“Good Trouble” is the spin-off to the popular Freeform series, “The Fosters," and stars Maia Mitchell and Cierra Ramirez as recently-graduated sisters Callie and Mariana.

The series also stars Tommy Martinez, Emma Hunton, Sherry Cola, Zuri Adele, Beau Mirchoff, Josh Pence, Priscilla Quintana and Bryan Craig.

"Good Trouble" follows Callie and Mariana as they start a new chapter in their lives while living in a new city. Mariana’s ambitions take her into the male-dominated tech industry where she tries to prove women can be just as successful in the field, while Callie faces the rough hurdles of the legal system world when she works a clerkship for a federal judge.

The show has been renewed for Season 5, however, fans of the show will likely not see Mitchell’s character as Callie Foster exited the show during Season 4 when the actress made the decision to go back to Australia to see her family, whom she hadn’t seen in two years due to COVID-19.

When speaking to Mitchell’s exit, showrunner and executive producer Joanna Johnson told Variety, “I had known that that Maia had been considering moving on. She’s been doing this role for nine years. She grew up in this role between ‘The Fosters’ and ‘Good Trouble.’ She was 19 when she started. I went to her trailer, and I said, ‘So, I want to talk about Season 4, and I want to beg you to stay.’ She said how much she loves his family and this show, but that she needed to go home.”

Johnson continued, “In the finale episode of Season 3, there were so many stories that we’re trying to serve and I wanted to devote an entire episode to her. She was delightful and lovely and said she’ll come back from Australia to do them. She’s always going to be part of the family, and I don’t think it’s the last we’ll ever see of Callie. Callie’s journey is happening off camera, but we’ll catch up with her.”

Cast and crew of “Good Trouble” said goodbye to Mitchel with heartfelt social media posts, including Ramirez who wrote “callie + mariana 4everrrrrrrrr?,” alongside an Instagram video at the time.
