Will Scientology Be Dragged Into Danny Masterson's Criminal Rape Case?

Danny Masterson is facing decades in prison after being hit with multiple charges for forcible rape, but the question that still remains is how much will the Church of Scientology play into the criminal case after being accused of helping to cover up the alleged crimes for years.

The "That '70s Show" star has already been named in a lawsuit, along with The Church of Scientology and its leader David Miscavige, of engaging on a years-long quest to forcibly silence the women who made accusations against Masterson.

In 2019, 4 women sued Masterson and the Church of Scientology claiming the organization, and David Miscavige had been stalking and harassing them in an effort to silence their sexual assault allegations against the TV star.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the women — two of whom are identified by name, the other two are Jane Does – claim the defendants engaged in "conspiracy to cover up that Daniel Masterson sexually assaulted four young women."

"When those women came forward to report Masterson’s crimes," the lawsuit claims, "the Defendants conspired to and systematically stalked, harassed, invaded their and their family’s privacy, and intentionally caused them emotional distress and silence and intimidate them."

Masterson and his team have long been aggressive when it came to handling the allegations from the multiple women. Just recently, the actor released a strong statement through his attorney making it clear that he believed the women were in cahoots against him and admonished those that jumped on the "bandwagon."

"I will beat her in court — and look forward to it because the public will finally be able learn the truth and see how I’ve been railroaded by this woman,” Masterson said in a statement to The LA Times. “And once her lawsuit is thrown out, I intend to sue her and the others who jumped on the bandwagon for the damage they caused me and my family.”

The lawsuit is still going on, and with the victims describing what they feel is a targeted attack from Scientology leaders on behalf of Masterson, it's possible the Church is put under the microscope as prosecutors present their case against the star.

"King of Queens" star, and ex-Scientologist, Leah Remini was celebrating the charges brought against Masterson as the actress has been a public combatant of the Church for years. After Masterson was arrested, Remini put out a statement making it clear he was just the tip of the iceberg.

"Finally, victims are being heard when it comes to Scientology! Praise the lord! This is just the beginning Scientology, your days of getting away with it is coming to an end!" Remini wrote on social media.
