Floyd Mayweather's Ex Josie Harris Death Originally Investigated As Homicide Due To Black Eye & Injuries

Officials originally believed Floyd Mayweather’s ex Josie Harris death could have been a homicide based on the severe bruises on her body.
According to the official autopsy report obtained by The Blast, the Los Angeles Medical Examiner-Coroner determined Josie’s cause of death was an accidental drug overdose caused by “mixed drug toxicity (Fentanyl, Alprazolam).”
There is a section in the report titled “Evidence of Injury” with a sub-section titled “Blunt Trauma.”
The officials noted Josie had a black eye, bruising all over her body and bleeding from the ear. Based on the injuries, the Sheriff’s Department launched a homicide investigation into the death. However, officials ultimately ruled the death as an accident based on her drug levels.
The Medical Examiner noted Josie had a history of anxiety and depression, used marijuana for anxiety and had a blood clotting disorder.
As The Blast first reported, The Los Angeles Medical Examiner-Coroner determined 40-year-old Josie died of “MIXED DRUG TOXICITY (FENTANYL, ALPRAZOLAM).” ALPRAZOLAM is an anti-anxiety medicine known by the generic brand name Xanax. The official cause of death was listed as an accidental overdose of the two drugs.
Back in March, Josie was found dead in her car which was parked outside her home in Valencia, California. One of her children found her unresponsive in the car. Police found no evidence of drugs in the car nor was a suicide note found.
Floyd posted a tribute to his ex on social media following her death. At the time of her death, Josie was set to face off against Floyd in a $20 million-dollar trial. They were scheduled to start trial on December 7, 2020.
The lawsuit was originally filed by Josie in 2015. She accused him of lying about a domestic violence incident during a Katic Couric interview. Floyd claimed Josie was high on drugs during a 2010 incident which ended with the fighter being arrested. He served two months behind bars in the case. In her lawsuit, Josie said the evidence showed Floyd viciously beat her.
