John recently revealed that he and his husband Furnish would support their children regardless of their future ambitions. The artist and his family made an appearance at the New York City unveiling of Saks Fifth Avenue's holiday windows. When E! News asked if the children were musically inclined, the father of two explained that it was too early to tell.

"They are still so young, so not entirely sure," the "I'm Still Standing" singer said. "But of course, whatever their dreams and ambitions are, my husband David and I will fully support them." On their ninth anniversary with each other, John and Furnish officially tied the knot and had their children shortly after.

He explained that the November 20 show was the first time he had returned to the baseball stadium since the 1975 performance, giving his choice of attire more meaning.

The multi-Grammy winner told E! News, "I have had so many costumes over the years. Gucci made an incredible crystal-encrusted robe, and [designer] Bob Mackie did a fresh take on my Dodger hat. It was the perfect outfit for me to end my tour in the US at a venue that meant so much to me."

Earlier this year, while celebrating his 75th birthday, John wrote an affectionate letter to his sons. There he spoke about how much he was proud of his achievements over the years and hoped they would always be true to themselves. "You're 11 and 9 years old now, and when I was your age, I could never have dreamed where life would take me," the veteran singer wrote per Time.

"Looking back over the past 75 years, there is so much I am proud of, so much I have learned. When I was young, I was told to fit in, to do what others expected even when it didn't feel right. Now I realize I can only be me. Being true to myself is what gave me my voice and helped me face my greatest fears."

While concluding, John told them that regardless of whoever they grew up to be, they should be "fully and completely" themselves.

In an early 2016 interview with The Guardian, John talked about his sons and revealed that he would raise them to have an appreciation for money and saving. He explained that they would have to do minor chores for their pocket money and learn the value of working and earning.

"They get £3 pocket money, but £1 is for charity, £1 is for saving, and £1 is for spending; they get three coins and put them in separate jars. And they have to work for it – help in the kitchen, help in the garden," the artist said. "They've got to learn the value of doing something and earning something for themselves."

John further revealed that he tries to make their lives as normal as possible. "They live a very local life in Old Windsor; they go round their mates' houses; it's not a showbiz life as such," he added. The music legend also said they were not usually "stuck behind the gates of a mansion" and regularly visited places like Pizza Hut, Waterstones, and the cinema.
